It's been a busy few weeks in the Life of Brian--I've actually been out of town the last 3 weekends, and between that and resting and recovering, it leaves me little time to update. But here I am, for the 4 of you who still use LJ.

Medically, physically, I am still healing from the surgeries. Four weeks ago, the surgeon finally referred me to a wound care specialist. Said specialist saw me, and began utilizing a new type of packing/bandage material--something called Silvercel. It's an alginate dressing--looks a bit like rope, actually. It's infused with silver, and the silver encourages the growth of new tissue. In 4 weeks of using this, there's been some remarkable improvement. When the surgeon saw me last week, he told me that I was all healed up from the first surgery, and about 60% healed from the second surgery. This is a good thing, especially since it doesn't really hurt to pack the wound anymore.

My biggest concern of the moment is the horrible chafing that occurs from wearing a surgical dressing every day--basically, it's like wearing a pad every single day. So for the last few days or so, I get nearly naked and just air myself out. It's actually nice to walk around the apartment naked or nearly naked--it's been a long time since I've done that. Also, I'm well enough to the point where I can have sex again, much to the joy of not just my wife, but also myself. I've missed it. My god, I've missed it.

So, good things all around on the physical front.

The last 3 weekends saw me in New Paltz, Tanglewood, and New Paltz again; the first was a quiet weekend spent with Wyatt & Jess; the next was 4th of July weekend seeing two shows at Tanglewood--A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor and company, and James Taylor the next day. For APHC, we went with good friend Dan H., still enjoying life in the Adirondacks. James Taylor was just April and I, and he put on a great show. The two guests he had with him, Vince Gill and Amy Grant, I didn't care for too much, but it was still a good show regardless. For the curious, here was the set list:

Last weekend in New Paltz was for the raspberry picking party that Jess was doing--the raspberries at their house were ripe, so a group of us picked and raspberry pie was later had. I was glad to go--present were friends that I hadn't seen since January (Mary, James, Jesse), and it was a great weekend. I was up till 5 AM just chatting with Jesse and Wyatt, and it was just wonderful talking and catching up until nearly sunrise.

I got some sleep, and we hung around till mid-afternoon before heading home. A great weekend, I felt, even if Wyatt has absolutely no luck at the Resident Evil card game. Poor boy. Uroboros and Wesker LOVE him. Still fun, though.

Now, the work week drags on, but I now have a shiny new computer--the Lottery's begun to upgrade its computers with Windows 7, and I was one of the first to get a shiny new computer. Unfortunately, so was my co-worker who's 40 years older than me. And simply because I'm in my 20s, I've become the default IT guy...even though we have a whole department devoted to it. Even after explaining that I'm just as new to Windows 7 as she is, she's told me that I know computers because I'm young. (headdesk) I hate being young sometimes. And it's not just her. Everyone in my office needs to go to a fucking class on basic computing, basic Office, and basic Outlook. Oy. But enough ranting--I'm feeling pretty good at the moment.

Lastly, the obligatory plugs--my character battle contest is underway over at The Battling Arena, so be sure to vote there, and I'm still doing my Downloadable Content podcasts. Every two weeks, a new episode goes up--download them from the iTunes store!

And there we go. That about brings it all up to speed. I've no plans for the next two weekends, but RenFaire is approaching, and I couldn't be more excited. I'm so looking forward to it!
