Cheese is good.
Back home now after a lovely weekend on Cape Cod, where I visited family, friends, and went to King Richard's Faire. That's it for our RenFaires this year, but we'll be back down in August for opening weekend at NYRF. It also means that from now until mid-November, I don't have to be anywhere and everywhere on weekends. I'll have a few do-nothing ones until April and I take off for a week's vacation.
So despite the fact that Danielle's train was nearly 3 hours late, we made it to Cape Cod just after 10:30 Friday night, with Ryan following us in his car. Saturday was spent mostly at King Richard's Faire with everyone, in which I ran into a familiar shop owner from NYRF: Scott, who you may know as the man who owns The Crow's Nest, Scallywags, Crown & Feather, and Siren's Song.
At the end of the day, Danielle was dropped off and whisked away by her parents for the remainder of the weekend, then we headed back home for Heather's little graduation party. My little sis has finally overcome living in her brother's shadow, for now she has something I do not--a college degree. She now has her Associate's degree, and she's already getting in her foot in the door with her chosen profession--interior design.
Sunday saw Ryan leave to head back home--he had class on Monday, so he did the responsible thing and headed home instead of cutting class. Good boy. In the morning, I got visits from both Rob and Jen, and saw two of my nephews. April and I headed to downtown Falmouth, did some shopping, eating, and then spent a few hours visiting Ronny and Dejah before settling in for the night.
Monday, I got another visit from Rob after being woken up once more by my family's new Golden Retriever (named Mariah 2.0), and also saw Tanya and my other nephew. We headed down to the beach nearby, and I took a nice dip...best bath I've had in 2 years, if I say so myself. I miss the ocean. A lot. Glad I could spend a little time in it.
Finally, we headed home, stopping in New Bedford along the way to get Danielle and be fed delicious kale soup.
So, yeah...it was nice to see my family again for the first time in nearly a year. I went there, had a blast, was reminded why I moved out, and I'll be back again for Thanksgiving. Now, back to the daily grind.
