An exercise in futility.
Monday, 23 February 2004 01:44Time for another trip into the daily happenings of my life. Woke up around 12 after spending last night gaming, and headed for eats at one, where Nick also happened to be going. We chatted about what was going on in his dramatic life, and we walked to McD. There I would spend the next 8 hours. The first 3 passed rather uneventfully, a good thing since the two managers on the previous day were here again. After the break, all that changed. For the 4 and a half hours after my break, I was assigned tasks to help make the place look clean for Tuesday's corporate inspection. Part of it was a good thing, since some of the tasks had me outside, out of the store--tasks such as pick up all the trash on the grounds. Some of the tasks were a little amusing, but I dare not question the fat cow's logic, for I could have had a mouthful. You know it's sad when she has to look up at you to nag. Some of her strange requests included: mopping the sidewalks. Yes, you read that correctly. Mopping the sidewalks. Water + below freezing = ice. But...I didn't question. Another was washing the fake plants. But, it would be the last part that proved to be the most grueling. I had to scrub the entire floor. Not mop. Scrub and mop. As in, take a giant bristle brush and scrub the floor of the restaurant, Playland and both restrooms included. That took the better part of 2 hours. By the time I was done, it was 9:45. 15 minutes left, and by this point, my feet have long since died. Yet, I get one more request--clean the men's bathroom. 10 minutes later, the shift ended. The walk back to campus seemed to feel twice as long. The top part of my body said go, but my feet said, "fuck, no!"
Back at campus, had a cleansing shower, and chatted with Bri. I called up my dear, Rach, and we talked for almost an hour. Afterwards, jumped into a voice chat with Sarah and Travis. Rach, Bri, and Travis have gone, and here I am with Sarah, myself exiting soon. To all the people out there reading this latest trip into my mind...sleep well.
Nighty night, all.
