I'm glad I decided to go to both concerts; the second one was infinitely better. In fact, it's probably one of, if not THE best DMB concert I've seen. It appeared to be a lot more packed this time around--then again, Annie and I got there 2 hours early and got a spot at the bottom of the hill.

This time, the place was hopping. The energy levels of the crowd were amazing, and as I guessed, this concert featured more of the band's older repertoire. The crowd was right into it, singing along with the band for nearly every song.

The crowd had screamed with such delight when Boyd went into his screaming violin solo during Tripping Billies--I had not heard a crowd roar with approval that loudly before. The same could be said any time Carter went into one of his patented drum solos.

The version of Two Step I heard last night was probably the best live version I've ever heard, and they closed it out with a favorite: All Along the Watchtower.

Didn't see too much of the drunken antics that I saw Friday night, but I did get to see (before the show actually started) someone carted out by security, and I saw some drunken lout decide that, instead of going up to the bathroom before the concert began when he still had time, he decided to piss right where he stood. Pissed his pants and down his leg.

As usual, the weekend brings about a flood of people and media reporting not just on the band's shows, but also the rampant underage drinking that goes on--this invariably leads to calls by opinionated folk to not bring DMB back because of all the partying, blah, blah, blah.

As I don't drink, smoke, or tailgate, doesn't bug me in the slightest. I just hope that Saratoga keeps bringing them back. Like it or not, DMB brings a lot of money into Saratoga for the weekend.

So now I'll have to wait 2 years before they return; the band's taking 2011 off after 20 years of almost non-stop touring.

I wonder when Bela Fleck's gonna ask for his saxophonist back.

For the 4th time, I made my yearly pilgrimage to SPAC to see the amazing Dave Matthews Band. Every time I go, it's always a slightly different experience. This, however, would be a bit more than slight.

Once again, I went with my friend Annie, but also went with another friend, Erica; both of them were former McManagers, but we remain good friends.

In light of the copious amounts of underage drinking and tailgating at SPAC last year, which resulted in tremendous amounts of kids getting pre-drunk, drunk, and hung over, the police were out in full force, and will remain so tonight when I go again.

Despite the frequent, and rather LARGE signs posted all around SPAC saying "NO ALCOHOL," it didn't stop people from getting pre-drunk--they just did their tailgating off the SPAC grounds. Many were caught trying to get plastered at SPAC, but really, the fact of the matter is that you can't stop 25,000+ people from having a good time unless you have that many police officers present.

It certainly did not hamper my usual experience; people were still getting just as stoned and just as drunk as ever. My night was made complete by the sight of several teens getting thrown out for various reasons (mostly drug-related; Annie did see someone snorting coke), some were led out by EMTs to get their stomachs pumped, and some were probably just getting a bit too frisky for someone's liking.

However, the concert was a great one, and I'm looking forward to tonight's. For those curious, here was last night's set list:
