Finally, at long last, she meets Nar!
Sunday, 18 April 2004 15:37(cue piano music)
I hear that old piano, from down the avenue.
I smell the daisies, I look around for you.
Oh, that sweet, sweet ol' someone,
Coming through that door.
It's Saturday, the band is playing,
Honey, could we ask for more?
Yesterday, the nicest day of the year. Such a beautiful day out, a nice day for a concert. I had awoke around 12, and made myself look presentable. After some food and a little wait, it was on to Nyack for a day of rehearsal. As the bus rolled down, memories came flooding back as I headed into familiar territory--Harriman State Park, my old street, rolling through Suffern, seeing the Novartis Pharmaceutical plant, my old middle school...(sigh) Many years of fun times happened here. Finally, the bus rolled into the town where I was born, a place where I had biked through several times. At Temple Beth Torah, our destination, we had met the composer of our music, Samuel Adler. It's not every day you shake the hand and talk to a famous composer--amazing experience. Also we met our narrator, Elliot, host of public radio shows--and the person that works with PDQ Bach on his radio show! It was amazing. Of course, Amy had her dream realized--meeting the character Nar!
We spent 3 hours rehearsing with the orchestra, and the piece came together--then we pigged out on dinner, myself having about 6 cups of Coke...which would end up providing me with an amazing caffeine rush. More on that later. Anyway, it was a beautiful night for the concert...there wasn't a cloud in the ceiling. At 8:37 (broadway time), the service began, and we performed to a nearly full house, and at the end of it all, it was a full standing ovation. (big grin) After reception, saw Tom, and I was just hyper. Then it was back to the bus for the trip back up. Got back around midnight, and the rest of the night would be spent doing a combination of online/phone/writing story/laying down all comfy. She's an amazing person...
Anyway, tonight I work...5 to 1 AM. Oi. Good thing I've no class tomorrow. Have a good day, everyone. Enjoy the 75 degree weather while it lasts!
