On the beach with the feathered Coquina.
Wednesday, 21 April 2004 01:13Settling back into normal springtime weather, I woke at the appointed hour and had some nice breakfast. After all, Hasbrouck can't screw up cereal. Went to class, and as it turned out, we had a guest lecturer for our World of Music--none other than Ed Lundergan, my choral director, giving us a lecture on American music in the 20th century. After that class, I was done, since there was no chorus, and I'd have to miss Bio, I spent the next 5 hours doing my research paper. It's done, and I beat the thing to death. After that, got all nicey-nice for my concert, had dinner at "Ass-brouck," then onto Studley theater for a small rehearsal, then concert. A night of all choral music, here's what was performed:
From the Chamber Singers:
1) Tantum Ergo, by Gabriel Faure
2) The Throstle, by Ulysses Kay
3) The Peacock, by David Diamond
4) All in Green Went my Love Riding, by David Diamond
From the Concert Choir (my group, woot!):
The world premiere first performance of Cove Beach, a 3 movement work written by our own Shirley Warren:
1) On the Beach with the Feathered Coquina
2) Dance of the Mole Crab and the Oystercatcher
3) Flight: Terns and Dolphins
From the College-Community Chorale:
1) Mass in E flat; Kyrie and Gloria, by Franz Shubert
2) Sommarhymn, by Hakan Alinder
3) Lilla blomman, by Wilhelm Peterson-Berger
4) Three Spirituals: Great Day, Keep Your Lamps, The Battle of Jericho.
Fun times. Next concert is May 2nd. Anyway, got back from concert, and typed a little more of a story I'm writing, and relaxed for a little. Now I'm uber-sleepy...good thing I only have 1 class tomorrow. Rest day.
Nighty night, all.
