Yesterday...a long, tiring day at work. Pages and pages of modular sheets, mile-long UPC numbers, and calling up Wal-Marts all over MA to see if they can spot us some extra cell phone stuff for the grand re-opening tomorrow. And I'm so glad I'm off today and tomorrow, for it is manic over there, with the highest-ups in town. But they must like me there, for I've been there 3 weeks and got a .40 raise to 8.90 an hour. Not bad at all, I say. So, after work, I had to wrangle with a sibling--my sister--for the phone. I can only talk to April at one time a day, when I work, and here's my sister putting up a stink about forking over the phone, yet every time someone calls for anyone or they want it, I give it to them. So, I did the best possible thing--I stood in her doorway and glared at her, being obnoxious until she forked the phone over, or rather, slammed the phone in my hand. And I walked away smiling.
After April had left for bed, I went online and also chatted on the phone with Sarah, where much chipperness was had with regards to her possible visit to the Cape. However, as we both are coming to discover, and one thing I totally forgot--it is Summer Season, the time when the Cape makes so, so, much revenue from tourists, visitors, people coming here for living in their summer homes; meaning this--hotel rates are fucking doubled, practically. From the end of June to the end of August, summer rates are in place...and it looks like the plan for Sarah to come up here might just fall apart because of the damned cost. As I do my hotel searching as well, I find that the cheapest hotel near here is $87 a night, and that's the weekday rate. Weekend rate mushrooms up to over $130 a night. Grr...I don't want to admit defeat to the dollar. Damn tourist season...
However, I keep searching. I am determined.
