"What's that way in the back?" "That's a tumor."
Thursday, 21 April 2005 00:09So...after Rob came back from the bar last night...he didn't go to work today. He slept through his alarm, which woke me up.
But work was worklike. I did see both Scott and Leigh today, and so inquired as to why everyone got hours cut.
Basically, the social collective of rednecks (Walmart HQ) wants instant gratification. Meaning this: higher sales. We're not making enough. Even though that every day for the last month, at least, sales in Photo and Wireless have increased tremendously...the Home Office wants MORE. More profit. They don't take into account that this Wal-Mart is in a poor geographical location. It's on a tourist trap that's dead in the winter. However, Home Office doesn't care. They want their sales. NOW. We can't deliver, despite our daily increases in sales...it's not enough. Enter the ONE major disadvantage of working in a specialty division: unlike working for a regular department (electronics, apparel, hardware, sporting goods, etc) where you can successfully protest if your hours get cut...if an order from the district manager of, in this case, Photo/Connection Center says cut the hours, then tough shit. Scott (my boss) sadly can't do anything about it. And he doesn't like the fact that everyone had to get cut...so, hopefully this is very short term.
Talked to April and Rach tonight...my April took an all-nighter last night, and is sleeping now. After work, Michelle, Ronny and I spent nearly 2 hours chatting and making asses of ourselves...so highly amusing...wonderful for a laugh. I really need to spend time with these people outside Wal-Mart.
So, now, back home. And work tomorrow.
OH! And I won the Game Boy Advance SP that I bid on...I won it for $61.01. Yay for the maximum bid function.
Nighty night, all.
