Ladies and gentlemen of the jury...(who's now short 1 because Sandra Day O'Connor quit the Supreme Court)

The paycheck mayhem FINALLY came to an end. I got my paycheck from Falmouth, cashed it, ran like Mario across 9W to the bank, ran like Mario back across 9W to Wal-Mart, and now rent will be paid tomorrow. However, the actions leading up to it were quite interesting.

Around 3, just before lunch, I went back to Personnel to see if the mail arrived. And so, we went for a walk all through receiving. Mail could be found in 4 places. We looked. Nothing. Now, I had to think, since I was beginning to think that the check hadn't arrived; do I want to wait 1 day and hope the check arrives, or take the sure bet and ask for a pay advance? If I took the pay advance, it'd mean that my next paycheck would be deducted by the amount I was advanced; waiting a day would hopefully have the check arrive, and if it didn't, a call to the Department of Labor would be in order.

During my lunch, I called Rich, and he was absolutely positive that he mailed out the check early in the week. He marked the envelope with "attn: Jay." Jay is our store manager. So, thinking the check hadn't arrived, I decided that rent NEEDED to be paid. So, I went to Jay first, asking if he got anything. He said no, but he'd let me know if my check arrived. 5 minutes later, I went to personnel again, and decided I wanted a pay advance. We go back to Jay--

--and he gives me my paycheck. Since Wal-Mart already took back its funds that it gave me, this shiny piece of paper with big numbers on it was all mine to keep. Very briefly, only for a second, did I feel like hugging him. It went away just as fast. I also felt, also very briefly, like calling Rich and professing my love to him. Again, faded just as fast.

So, cashed it in Wal-Mart, deposited it, went in immediately, and now I am paying rent tomorrow.

Came home, ate, had some fun sex. Oh, fun!

So, the final tally--16 people entered the SSM contest. For the next few days, I shall be downloading pics of the various fighters. Then, on July 6, we begin with the opening battles. And so, my dear LJ readers, for the next 2 months or so, you shall be seeing polls every day. Vote on them!

Now, I just hope my happiness carries through the weekend. I may be feeling bitter this weekend...as you know, I was supposed to go on vacation today, that camping trip and the James Taylor concert thing that Wal-Mart denied me from going on. I'll try to keep the feelings at bay, but if you see me with some stinging sarcasm about work and life this weekend, you'll know why.

April's brother, Ryan, will be here this weekend. This should be interesting.

Speaking of plans and not botching them, we need to start finalizing our RenFaire plans, Carolyn, Dan, Sara, whoever else.

All right. Gaming awaits.

Oh, and April, you wanted the link to the famed "oh, panic! PANIC!" entry: http://www.livejournal.com/users/robkaiote/403043.html

Nighty night, all.

I see some of you are wondering about the suddenness and confusion of my last post. Well, I shall explain it to you. Today was not the most pleasant of days.

It began when I checked my bank account to see if my paycheck from the Kingston Wal-Mart was directly deposited. It wasn't, and so I called them up. They're telling me that nothing went into the account, and the check is for $0. So, I decided after my job interview, I'd go to Wal-Mart to see what was up.

My job interview with Cingular went rather well. I'll find out in 2-3 weeks if I'm hired or not. I have really one major thing against me--this job will go to the one with the most seniority and experience. In short, because I'm 19, I may not get the job because of how young I am. But we'll find out. So, that went well, I head over to Wal-Mart, and leave furious.

As it turns out, remember how I kept bitching about my personnel manager from Falmouth; Rich--and how I was waiting for my paycheck from him? Well, when he mailed it to me the first time, he forgot to write the "Apt. 7C" on the address. So it came to Kingston, and bounced back. He told me this, and I told him I need that money to pay bills with.

So, he arranged it with my store manager here, and the Accounting office would give me, in cash, the amount that I got on my last paycheck FROM FALMOUTH, coming to about $625. So Wal-Mart wouldn't be $625 short, Rich would mail the paycheck to this store, I'd sign it over, and they'd be even.

He did not.

So, Wal-Mart recorded the $625 they gave me as a pay advance, meaning I'm getting paid ahead of payday. As a result, Wal-Mart needs to get its money back so it breaks even. They did so by taking my entire paycheck today. So I got a check for 0.

Which now means, once again, I still need my paycheck from Falmouth. Now that Wal-Mart has taken this one so it can break even, that check from Falmouth is once again live.

Unfortunately, rent is due tomorrow. And we now don't have rent money because of this check mishap. So, I and the personnel associate here called Rich several times while I was there. He was in an orientation until 2 PM, and wasn't taking calls from ANYONE, regardless of urgency. So, they and I tried again around 2:30.

He was at lunch.

Finally, a little after 3, I get a call from the Kingston Wal-Mart telling me that Rich mailed my check to this store on Tuesday, 2 days ago. Which means it'll be here tomorrow, Saturday at the absolute latest. And once I get it, the check is mine to deposit. In a way, it's a good thing--the amount on the check from Falmouth will pay more than what this first check from Kingston would've netted me.

Meanwhile, until then, we have no rent money. Rent can be paid no later than the 5th, otherwise it'll be late. And if that check is not here by Saturday, I am going to play hardball and bring in the Department of Labor. Because this is getting ridiculous.

It's giving me more reason to leave Wal-Mart.

And that was my day.

April came home, we ate, I played some baseball and Xenosaga II, read.

And the major highlight: after 15 years, I finally beat the original Super Mario Bros. I WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!

Nighty night, all.
