And now we are officially halfway through this contest. Of the 128 battles in this contest, 64 of them made up Round 1. The contest should feel like it's moving quicker from this point on.

For you newbies, I usually do a summary post at the end of each Round, usually to share highlights, records, stats, and notes for the upcoming rounds. These "summary posts" are usually longer than one of my standard updates, at least on Fantasy World. With that said, away we go.

First of all, as you all know, this contest has the largest turnout yet. This is my 4th contest, and we have a participating field of 22 entrants, up from 17 in the last contest. With each contest, I try to make the brackets so that the more popular, well-known good characters are set up in such a way so that they'll advance to the later rounds. I try not to throw too many exciting battles in Round 1--I have found that the exciting battles that involve the popular characters leads to tie-breaker battles, and in this Round 1, there was only ONE battle that had to be decided by a tie-breaker. This means that I made a decent bracket. Chaos, shut up. ;D

A lot of scoring in this round, 9040 points out of 14080, all told, which isn't bad at all for a first round. Not at all.

As for records...heehee.

So far, no one has broken the record for Most Consecutive Battles Won, which stands at 18. C&T, noxiousCaitSith, and Seraphi Magus have made the FGCB Record at 17, but no one's hit the 18.

As for the Most Consecutive Battles Lost, well...TetsuoTrunks currently has the FGCB Record at 16, in which he also made another record tonight: the first person to miss ALL 16 battles in a Round 1 Division--he did not score anything in the Guardia Division. In addition, TetsuoTrunks WILL break the Overall record as well. Since he did not score in the first 12 battles of the Midgar Division, he WILL add an extra 6 battles to that, making it 22 consecutive lost battles, a new Overall record.

Longest Win Streak, the number of consecutive days in 1st place--the Overall record is 46 days, held by TetsuoTrunks. And no one is going to break it this contest. Saya, who currently has a 9-day streak in 1st place, if she stayed in 1st the rest of the way, would finish with a 45-day streak in 1st. The FGCB Record is currently held by me at 17 days.

Longest Losing Streak, or the number of consecutive days in last--the Overall is 45 days, held by Zack. As it stands, TetsuoTrunks has been there the entire contest so far, 32 days. And he's guaranteed to be there at least 38 days. It looks very likely he's going to break the Overall Record. Now that Round 1 has officially ended, I can now tell you this, if you haven't caught on already: he's actually TRYING to get the record for longest losing streak, so he can have the records for BOTH Longest Winning and Losing streaks.

And still, NO ONE has claimed the other elusive record: to actually win all 16 battles in a Round 1 Division. Some of us came close, with 15, but fell.

Eliminated Predicted Champions: Mei Mei, defeated by Dixie Kong. That's it.

Here's how the leaderboard looks at the end of Round 1:

With the end of Round 1, it marks the official halfway point of this contest. Of this contest's 128 battles, 64 of them (exactly half) make up Round 1.

Remember, the stakes are higher. 25 points will be given if you have a correct winner AND correct battle pairing; 15 for just picking the correct winner, 0 if you're wrong.

With that, let us begin the second half of the Female Gamer Character Battle Contest!

See, last time 2 characters from 2 Square Enix games went head to head, y'all got confused--where does the fanboy allegiance belong?

Tomorrow: Aerith (FF7) vs. Niobe (Enter the Matrix); Kitana (Mortal Kombat) vs. Ruby (Dark Cloud).
