Chased by the amenities of a runny nose.
Wednesday, 3 May 2006 11:54The tenure at Wal-Mart gets closer to its end, and yesterday was one of the few times where you could say I lost my temper. I had a customer who'd come to pick up film from the 1-hour service. I asked him when he dropped it off, he said yesterday. Gave me his last name, and I began digging through the drawer. Didn't find it under his last name. So I searched by envelope number. Nothing there either. I asked again if he was sure he dropped it off yesterday. He said he was, and so I searched all the drawers, and even in the bin of today's completed orders. Nothing. He was starting to get testy, and after coming up with nothing on the 4th drawer search, he and his crochety old wife began screaming at me and other associates. Another photo associate asked the now irate customers when they dropped off the film, and they said yesterday.
We were coming up with absolutely nothing. By now, Laurie is in on it and we're searching the entire lab. Meanwhile the customer is following my every move, he and his wife screaming the whole time. In full view of a line that had formed. After asking the customer for a 5th time, he then said that he remembered he dropped off film TODAY. Sure enough, I find it very quickly in a pile of film yet to be packaged and priced. I then slammed the film down on the counter, and then in a fit of anger, kicked a garbage can clear across the lab in full view of everyone, sending garbage everywhere. Laurie screamed at me, and after picking up the trash, I left to go to lunch, ignoring everyone.
I got back and got chewed out, but life went on. Better the garbage can than the customer's face, I say. I'm so glad I'm leaving.
In other news, going to Mohonk today--we are equipped for a day trip, food and all...and 10 rolls of film. Hopefully it's enough. Hopefully, the pictures come out will be just as good. I've been meaning to post the pics from last week, but haven't gotten there.
Also have been taking part in the Fantasy World/FF7 Citadel Final Fantasy 7 race--it's a time trial from the beginning of FF7 to Fort Condor on disc 1--a run that, at its absolute quickest, is close to 3 hours. So I've been spending much time with FF7 in these last few days. I posted my first official complete time, but can submit times after if I get it any faster. Makes me realize just how much text I have to scroll through--poor O button is getting a beating.
Alright, shower time.
