Weekly update time again, as it were. Work has been work, although I've been getting more and more of it--we've been offered overtime, so April and I grabbed it. Nice to work in a place where come Friday, your boss doesn't tell you that you racked up 7 minutes of overtime, take a 7-minute longer lunch break. While Wal-Mart fired people who ended up with overtime, the Lottery offers it from time to time, and encourage people to take it. I'll take $18 an hour to punch in data and print out checks for 1 cent, no prob.

Lately in my off-time, I've been getting ready for the upcoming photo contest, and I have definitely decided on 3 pictures out of the 5 I'll submit: the pic with the sun behind the clouds making it look all heavenly, the splash effect, and the mysterious seagull girl of whom Ben has absolutely never seen, heard of, and has no connection (sexual or otherwise) to.

The other two I've yet to decide, but I made a reading error and ended up confusing myself with the rules on how many pics I can submit. I can submit up to 35--5 pics per category. There are 7 categories for this contest, and you can do the math. So I may end up submitting more than 5, just for more chances to win. I can win only once, but the more, the better. Thanks everyone for all your feedback!

Speaking of contests, I hope to get the official bracket for the upcoming RPG Character Battle Contest out this week, so signups can start. Seeing as how I didn't get very many suggestions from people, it will appear that I may have to utilize some random pairing in addition to finding more characters. GameFAQs, here I come. Remember, I'll take suggestions from any RPG game from any console (except PC), and no FF characters.

I ended up getting out of roofing duty over the weekend when I got hit by a 24-hour fever, in which my temperature hovered a little over 102 on Saturday night, and went away on Sunday, leaving me tired. Now I'm fine. For the first time in 3 years, I will have health insurance--it kicks in around the beginning of July, at which point I will get to a doctor immediately for a checkup, full physical, the works.

For those who were seriously considering going to the Renaissance Faire this summer (I'm going whether you are or not, by the way), time to start seriously considering it. I know some of you showed interest, but now's the time to begin conferring. Last year, going on opening weekend was good for nearly everyone who came, that may be the better idea again, since everyone is going back to school between mid-late August. I want your phone numbers so we can start conferring. Remember, I may be able to do what I did last year and hit my uncle up for free passes again. However, if I can't, it's $20 a head to get in. My cell is 845-853-5247.

Speaking of travel, my dad has come from Texas, and couldn't have picked a worse time to do it. He's staying with my grandmother about 2 hours downstate, and then he's going to Cape Cod this weekend to see my sister. I can't take a day off during the week--it'd require April to take the day as well so she could drive me, so it looks like I won't see him. Last time I saw him was 3 years ago, my high school graduation. Although I can't really say that I'm all that excited anyway--the man's been mostly out of my life since I was 5, making occassional visits here and there, but I never really bonded with him. I consider my stepdad more my father than he. Me not coming down to visit my dad may get some angry emails/phone calls from my grandmother and aunt, but hey--the timing is just off. This whole planning smelled foul from the start--he was originally going to come up here last May for my sister's Sweet 16, at which point it got thrust upon us to get him to Cape Cod from Washingtonville--a drive totaling 8 hours from Albany. No warning, it was just hurled upon us. We were moving, starting a new job--just ugly planning. I asked him to move his trip back, he did, and the timing is just off again, as he is staying from Monday to Monday, and going to the Cape this weekend. No big deal, I'll see him for his wedding in Texas, not too far off.

And the Brothers Chaps haven't updated HR.com in nearly a month. WHAT GIVES?!

All right, I bracket-make now.
