Summer Contest signups have begun!
Sunday, 18 June 2006 21:34It's that time again, everyone. It's the summer, so it's now time for Fantasy World's 5th Character Battle contest.
This summer, the theme is all RPG characters battling it out for the title of Champion. 128 characters from many games, many of them known, and some that are obscure. The game pool was any from NES to the current generation of systems (Xbox, PS2, GC).
There are no FF characters here, which makes it interesting. Without the automatic favorite that FF usually brings, this gives a chance for characters from other RPGs to shine and be known. That is the formula behind this contest.
For those of you who have done these before, the layout is the same--128 characters, 4 divisions, elimination style.
For the newbies, it's just a simple single elimination tournament, plain and simple. Characters are divided into 4 divisions, paired up, and do battle by way of polls. You vote for your favorite character, and the character with the most votes at the end of the day wins, and advances to the next round.
Before the contest even begins, you have nearly a month to make your predicted contest bracket. This year's contest will begin on [b]July 12.[/b] The contest is about 2 months long, but there is a nice payoff at the end.
To you newbies: the object is to gain the most points by predicting correctly. Whoever has the most at the end of the contest wins the title of Champion, and a prize from me. For this contest, the prizes are:
1st place: You pick ONE of the following:
--A video game of your choice (please specify NTSC or PAL)
--$50 gift card to EB Games, GameStop, Hot Topic, or Best Buy
--$50 check, money order, or PayPal.
2nd place: Pick ONE of the following:
--$25 gift card to any of the above
--$25 check, money order, or PayPal
3rd place: Pick ONE of the following:
--$20 gift card to any of the above
--$20 check, money order, or PayPal.
As you can see, the monetary prize is new for this contest. I decided this because sometimes, you just need the money more than a gift card or game.
