What's up, Doc? Part 2.
Wednesday, 26 July 2006 20:30After going to the gastroenterologist (too many fucking syllables!!!), the doc gave me his first educated guess, given the symptoms I described: frequent pains, onset of several quick fevers, some pains accompanied by a visit to the bathroom and having a shit, loose stool (too graphic for you? Move on.), where the pain was located.
An inflammation of the small bowel.
So, he wants me to go in for X-rays tomorrow, so we made a 7 AM (oh, dear god) appointment at St. Peter's Hospital, and so I hope they find something. They better. Not only will I be there for 3 hours chugging barium so that they can see my intestines on X-ray, but I can't eat after midnight tonight. If it's an inflammation, which I'm kinda hoping for, the doc will put me on meds and that'll be that. If not, then we go down (or up) another avenue. I hope it's nothing more serious than that.
For all the jokes I make about medical insurance, I'm kinda thankful that I have it. These pains began nearly a month before my insurance began. If I didn't have it, I'd be paying doctors for the rest of my life. Or not go to the doctor and have this thing get worse and end up dead at some point.
Anyway, that's the update. Tomorrow I'll have a dead and exhausted me.
