So, uh, "Manos."

Nah. Not tonight, anyway. I'm starting to become immune to Manos, which is the scary part. But I digress.

A few days since my last real post, when I divulged that I do, in fact, have a diagnosed case of Crohn's disease, an auto-immune chronic disease of the small intestine. Long story short, it can't kill me, but it's an annoying thing that affects people typically right in my age group (18-25), and will be a nudge for the rest of my life. However, with the proper dietary changes and meds, I can keep it under control. If I take care of myself, I should be fine. For those interested, do some research. I know I am.

Life in the new apartment continues just fine, everyone doing well for the most part. Work is work-like, and not too much in the way of info there. However, I do have one bit of funny news from the Lottery, another one of those customer stories that make you realize that there really is no hope for the human race. We begin:

April works with validating lottery tickets--people can mail to us scratch-offs, regular tickets for Lotto, Mega Millions, etc, and cash vouchers from the gaming machines in casinos throughout the state, for redemption. If the tickets are winners, we send them a check for their winnings (minus tax, if applicable). Usually if tickets are over 45 days old, you have to mail them in anyway. We check them, see if they're winners or losers. Sometimes people send us letters with their tickets--sometimes nasty, griping letters; sometimes real, honest inquiries, and sometimes really stupid correspondence. Here's one of them--a gem, actually.

New York State Lotto scratch-offs, well, some of them, have a holographic laminate that contains trace amounts of metal. The ticket here was a Win For Life Spectacular. The ticket looked like it came from a war zone. Ripped, burnt in places, but contained enough info to validate and see if the ticket won anything. Attached was a note, and the reason why the ticket was in such horrible shape. And I quote: "Ticket got wet. Put in microwave to dry. Ticket caught fire. HELP!!!!!!!"

You're stunned, I know. What is the rule about putting METAL in a MICROWAVE?!

This person should never be allowed to play Lotto again. The sad part? He won $40. There was enough info on the ticket for us to validate, and the ticket ended up being a winner for $40.

Because of the total silliness of this, April actually has begun keeping the real gems in a special folder marked, "D'oh!!!"

Ah, well. In other news, this weekend I will be at April's parents--her family is going away and they need someone to watch the animals. So we'll have a house to ourselves. And a pool. Teehee. So I will be updating the contest from there over the weekend--all my pics are now uploaded to Photobucket. Also, looking forward to this weekend's Red Sox-Yankees series. This should be good.

Last bit of news--2 days ago, I ran a Windows update, and Microsoft installed a security update for Internet Explorer. Bad move. Since then, IE keeps crashing. And crashing. Made updating my contest these last 2 nights extremely difficult. Apparently no matter how much I send an error report, I keep getting on their site that they have no clue what caused the problem. Typical Microsoft. So, I'm experimenting with a new Internet browser--Mozilla Firefox, and so far, so good.

Although, now I ask, LJ Friends' list--if any of you use or have used Firefox, you like? Dislike? What's good, not so good? I want feedback. If Mozilla works well, I may keep it permanently and say ta-ta to IE. It's first real test will be on Monday, when I am back home to update my contest from my laptop. Can it keep up with having a few windows open so I can update? Will it crash, or slow my compy down horribly? Any feedback would be appreciated.

All righty, dishes await, then meds, sex, and bed.

Nighty night, all.

Colosso, Day 24.
