Over a week since I last updated this thing with an update of my life and not the contest. Poor neglected LJ.

A week ago, April and I headed down to New Paltz with the intention of staying there and rounding up our NP friends to join us for the closing weekend of the NY Renaissance Faire. We arrived, much to the delight of those of whom we were seeing. We were treated to Oscar's that night--damn, I missed their wraps. OH GOD YUM. Here, we determined who was going when: Saturday would be just four of us--Mary, James, April and I. Sunday, we'd have everyone. Alas, Ben couldn't make it due to pressure from his family--silly parents. Needless to say, we ended up going to bed near 1 AM.

RenFaire was awesome, as per usual. I ended up blowing my money on what I intended--garb. Yay garb. Check out these 2 pics of me in said garb:

April had loaned Mary her costume, and needless to say, Mary looked quite delicious. The bodice was a bit big, so Mary will have to be fitted for proper oxygen deprivation. The four of us went our separate ways so that the other two could fully explore the Faire, April and I could enjoy the goings-on. Luckily, the weather held, and I had a full costume. I had my camera in full use, and I ended up shooting 5 rolls, including the Wrong Show and the Wet Chemise Contest. I had made prints of the actors before the weekend, so I could distribute them. I got ahold of the belly-dancing group, they gave me their card, and I have since sent them the pics that I took during opening weekend. Now I have to wait to get THESE developed, which contain new pics.

Poor James had a round of allergies, but was well enough for Sunday with meds. Sunday had the full group: the four mentioned earlier, plus Wyatt and Shanti, and Mary's roomie, Jess. Brie and Ben's roomie, Ian, would meet us there. I was in full costume, and took another 6 rolls of film. There, I met up with Annie and her mom, and we hung out for a while before going our separate ways. April and I managed to catch most of the Court scenes...poor Queen and Dudley...they must think I'm stalking them now. I broke the fourth wall. Yeah, I know. Shoot me. Wyatt managed to add a tunic/doublet to his outfit, which made him look really nice. Again, when I get pics developed, you shall have.

Mary, I need James' email or screen name(s).

An awesome, awesome weekend. Then we had to go back to reality. Wah. Work is still worklike, and this week saw the end of the latest character battle contest. I love doing these things, but a break is nice. Next contest will begin in January, with signups beginning in December.

In the meantime, this commercial brought to by Mad Squirrel Photos:

Want to get some holiday shopping done? Or just want to nab something with a personalized feel? Think that someone might enjoy some beautiful photography? I have opened up a store on CafePress, selling items that contain photos by me: greeting cards, mousepads, journals, posters, tiles, etc. More stuff will be added in the coming days, like calendars, postcards, magnets, framed tiles, etc. All the items contain an image that was taken by me at some point during the last year. Click the banner below, and you'll be taken to Mad Squirrel Stuff. Check them out. Support budding photographers!

April too is also trying to earn a little extra income this holiday season, making bake-ed treats to order: pies, cakes, etc. I'm drooling already. Speaking of, I have to help peel apples for her next project: apple pie.
