This LJ post has no title...just words and a tune.
Thursday, 9 November 2006 23:16So, the new (used) computer I received from my friend Annie is now up and running as of yesterday, although getting it in running order took some time. Basically, I had to take a Brillo pad to the hard drive because it was loaded with spyware, and badly needed some updates. But it's fine now, everything's running as it should. The computer's name is Servo.
In other news, I have been given a satisfactory evaluation at work, which most likely means that my 6-month probation has come to an end--I will become a permanent employee, which is the equivalent of having tenure. This means a raise, and I'll soon be able to use my paid vacation time that's been accruing for the last 6 months. April is soon to follow suit.
On NaNoWriMo, I have met my goal for the first 9 days of this insane writing month. Because I'm going to be spending the weekend in Ithaca, chances are I'll get no writing done. To compensate, I've been writing between 2000-2500 words a day to build up a buffer so that I'd still be on course for the month after the weekend ends. By the end of tonight, the goal was to have 20,070 words. 3 days add up to 5,000 words, so I needed to be 5000 words ahead. I finish at 20,100 out of 50,000. I could use a break. I am also coming to realize that this RE4 novelization is not going to end when NaNo ends. I'm 35 pages in, and I haven't even finished going through a third of the game yet--Leon is just now battling Del Lago. Chances are, this is going to take me a long time to complete, and so I hope to keep writing at this frenetic pace even after NaNo ends. With the holidays and my next contest coming up, that looks horribly unlikely. However, the reviews have been good. Read! http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3225097/1/
Election results seemed to have made most of us happy--I know I am, especially now that Rumsfeld has quit. Of course, with Congress now Democratically controlled, and having a Republican president...this means no new legislation will pass, at least, with our current state of government.
Tomorrow, I go to Ithaca, as previously stated, to see Carolyn and hang out. I'm quite excited. Ah, Greyhound and Trailways...we meet again.
And for those of you who are interested in participating in this year's NY RenFaire Photo Contest, all entries must be postmarked by Nov. 20. Check out their web site for more info.
On that note, I'm off, and will most likely be online again Sunday Night. If you really need me, you have my cell.
Enjoy your weekends.
