Sorry, Officer...I didn't see the light was pink.
Sunday, 25 March 2007 22:29Wow, it's been forever since a real post. Other than the VGH contest that ended, my life has been busy...we've been working overtime for nearly a month now, without any sign of letting up soon. All of it voluntary, but I think after this work week ends, we'll take a short break from the overtime. In recent news:
April's friend Erin was here a couple of weeks ago, and it was fun. She's rather nuts, and I enjoy it immensely. While I gamed, they had fun delving into their current obsession--the Doctor.
My baseball card appraisal moves slowly, but now I've entered the final part of it--the massive box of 4000 or so cards left to check.
We now have cable, and April and I have been taking great joy in watching Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs...April has her CourtTV back, and I am excited about the upcoming baseball season. Speaking of which, I'm definitely looking forward to Easter weekend, in which I'll be in New Paltz and the Bronx--going with Ben and Brie to Yankee Stadium. For me, it'll be the first baseball game I've ever been to. And while I don't like the Yankees, I want to go there before it gets torn down for the new Yankee Stadium. Also coming up in April is April's birthday, and for that, I'm taking her to see Rent. The US touring group of Rent is coming to Proctor's Theatre right here in Schenectady, and I couldn't pass up a chance to go see it. Also coming up in the month ahead is Bill Engvall, also coming to Proctor's. That also means Nick will be here, and it'll be the first time I've seen him since November of 2005. Wyatt (and I think Ben) are also planning to come up here. Anyone else interested--you'll have to buy your own tickets to the show (which is on April 28th, a Saturday), or just come up here for the day or so. It's only an hour and a half up from NP.
My everlasting video game backlog has increased some more as I added 4 new games to the mix: Devil May Cry, Dragon Quest 8, Wii Play, and FF3. Yeesh. My backlog looks like this...and these are the games I've begun:
FF2 (PS1)
FF12 (PS2)
Dragon Quest 8 (PS2)
Silent Hill 3 (PS2)
Xenogears (PS1)
Wild Arms (PS1)
FF3 (DS)
Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning (DS)
Spyro the Dragon (PS1)
Legend of Zelda (NES/Wii)
And the games I haven't begun yet:
Indigo Prophecy (PS2)
Devil May Cry (PS2)
I've only finished 1 game this year so far...this is pathetic. Ah well, do as I must.
Got my learner permit renewed, the hunt for driving schools is on, I'll be making my calls this week. Last weekend, April and I got library cards for the Schenectady public library system, and I took out a book by H.P. Lovecraft. Why? The excellent GC game Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem references (and in some cases, outright steals from) his works, and I could use a good mind fuck, much like when I was playing through the game for the first time. I've also been feeling a small urge to resume my Eternal Darkness novelization. Also got my taxes done this weekend, and I'll be looking at a return of about $600 (combined federal and state). Nothing like taking money back from the government.
Last Wednesday, when VGH ended, myself, Joshie, Sputin, and E, recorded the FW Podcast in which I announce the winners and give the final lowdown on the just-ended contest. To download and listen, click here. Do it. I command you!
Oh, and I lobbed my beard off. It's the first time I've been completely clean-shaven since last summer. April doesn't recognize me anymore.
All right, time to play some FF3 before bed. I'll leave you and Doctor Whomestar to talk over matters of TARDIS repair.
Nighty night, all.
