Wednesday, 2 May 2007 21:45Last weekend = fun. Nick was here, first time we'd seen each other since November of 2005. The weekend saw much gaming, I got to play WarioWare: Smooth Moves, we reminisced by playing SSBM, and much more gaming was had. I also began Super Paper Mario.
And he appeased us with ice cream that he made from Coldstone. It's great stuff, but I remembered why I never buy ice cream from there--rather pricey. Still, thanks much for the ice cream and the brownies made by your mom. Chocolate always works.
Saturday saw us going to see Bill Engvall at Proctor's, preceded by a dinner at The Backstage, a restaurant that recently opened up behind Proctor's. Nick forgot how to speak, so it seemed. Both of us took a couple of digs from the waitress--I love a person with a sense of humor. April was also amused. Ah, male bashing.
April's family was also present for Bill, and what ensued was an hour and a half of utter hilarity from Bill...an excellent performance, and I believe that it was a packed house.
After Nick left, I recorded a Button Mashers with Ben...well, re-record. Ben somehow lost the first half of our podcast, but I think it turned out better the second time around.
Then the work week began, and yesterday, I'd been feeling so tired. After coming home, I hit the bed and 3 hours later, woke up...ate, then went back to bed. Felt a bit more refreshed.
I can't wait till overtime ends. It's voluntary, but it's now finally starting to seem like we're making actual progress in reducing the office workload...2 months after voluntary overtime began.
Bought yet ANOTHER new game, New Super Mario Bros for the DS. I LIKE.
Also, just bought tickets for April and myself--2 shows at Tanglewood this summer: A Prairie Home Companion (which begins the Boston Symphony Orchestra summer season), and "Film Night at Tanglewood," which the BSO site describes as:
John Williams, conductor.
John Williams and special guests present a tribute to the great British director, David Lean, creator of Lawrence of Arabia, The Bridge on the River Kwai, A Passage to India, and Doctor Zhivago. The evening will also include a suite from Williams' magical scores for the Harry Potter movies, to be performed with a special film montage drawn from the widely popular series.
Tanglewood is such a wonderful, beautiful place.
Shifting gears: as I mentioned in the last post, since I've gotten very few suggestions for the next character battle contest, I've mined for characters. However, I am going to let YOU determine how they're going to be seeded, and which characters make the final cut. Starting today, I'm going to post polls--tonight, I'll post 2 big polls. You will have the option of choosing 20 of your favorites out of a pool of nearly 40 Nintendo characters. You will pick 10 characters per poll (although the poll makes you able to vote for everyone)...well, I PREFER you do so. In a couple of weeks, I'll check the results, and make the bracket using the voter data. Think of this as qualifying voting. I will do the same with the Sega, Sony, and Microsoft characters over the next couple of days. We start with the Nintendo blocks. They'll be behind an LJ cut, because the polls are long. Remember, I'd prefer you pick 10 per poll.
( Nintendo Characters, Preliminary Seeding Voting )
Now, to do something I haven't done in a week. April.
Nighty night, all.
