Well, there was some more votes done with the added day, and now it's over. We move to the last 2 battles of the Sony Division, Round 1. Tomorrow begins Microsoft's at-bat. This should be good. I know that for many of you, Microsoft was a guessing game. Who will weather the tide? But before that, a note about these next 2 battles: EyesOfATragedy ([livejournal.com profile] eyesof_atragedy) and Alyssa ([livejournal.com profile] alyssachan) have managed to guess correctly the previous 14 battles of the Sony Division. Should they get these next two correct, they will become part of the All-16 Club. Only 3 people in contest history have managed to pull off the feat of getting every battle correct in a division's opening round: C&T, Saya, and Fragments. And C&T also has a shot of doing it again. So we move on!

Oh, and I passed my road test! A winner is me!

Battle 15 consists of two tough guys--one who feasts on the dead, and the other who has an interesting fighting style: Yoshimitsu of Tekken fame takes on Raziel from Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. And yes, I know what you're gonna say: Yoshimitsu is also in Soul Calibur. He was in Tekken first, which debuted on the PlayStation.

First: if you didn't notice, I extended the current contest battles by 1 more day, as LJ was having a power outage. Some people who wanted to vote could not, and I couldn't update when came time anyway. So if you haven't voted on the current battles, scroll down and vote away. Barring any more technical difficulties, tonight's update will proceed as normal.

Overtime continues at work, so more money there. :) Also, coming up, is this year's RenFaire. Opening weekend is August 4 and 5, and it appears that this time, it will just be myself, April, and Wyatt going, as we found a place to crash in the form of my grandma's in Washingtonville, less than 30 minutes away from the Faire. As for the friends in Ramapo, I would like to wait until the two Dans come back from wherever they are. Unless of course, I pass today's road test and can afford to make more RenFaire trips with y'all from Ramapo before (and after!) the Dans return.

So yes...today is my road test. In about 3 hours from now, actually. While I feel very confident in my driving abilities (since April's hardly had to drive anywhere now for nearly 2 months, I've been driving every chance I get, including several hours on highways), I feel just a touch nervous, as now it's not a calm driving instructor or April, it's going to be a DMV examiner with no sense of humor. So, if I pass, then shortly after (after some happy celebratory whatever), I'll go on April's insurance, and 5 years of parental nagging will come to an end.

Stayed up till 1:30 AM last night, a rarity now for me (sometimes I long for the days of being a night owl once again, since it's now noon on a Wednesday and hardly anyone's on because they all stayed up till 5 AM playing Warcrack or something like that) watching the CNN/YouTube Democratic debates. Very interesting what the candidates had to say when the questions were thrown at them by everyday people who made YouTube videos to send in. Interesting to hear the candidates' differing opinions on matters like gay marriage, education, the Iraq Failure, and so on. The Republicans get their turn with the CNN/YouTube debate in September, and I hope to catch that as well--as a voter, I try to make it a point to get the views of both sides instead of basing my vote on just one side. The fun part? Anyone can make a YouTube video with a question to ask the candidates and send them in--with any luck, Anderson Cooper will pick your video as well.

So now, time to eat, then get some clothes on and make ready for the road test. Oh, and...happy birthday, Ben!
