A wall o'thongs. Leather, if you must know.
Tuesday, 4 September 2007 22:13So the 10 day vacation came to an end. Alas. And now I'm feeling rather spent after coming home and going back to work today--sitting all day has made me tired, oddly enough. Didn't feel like doing a damn thing.
However, when I last left you, I'd given you the recap of the first half of the break--our treks to Tanglewood and Bennington, VT. Now the second half.
Nothing special about Thursday, just spent the first part of the day loafing and packing, then late in the day, we got Ryan from Albany and drove down to Dan H's parents in Suffern. After much hugs and greetings, we ate, then got Carolyn and went food shopping to grab some various foodstuffs for Friday's expedition to the Jersey shore. After that was done, went back home and went to bed.
Friday morning saw us getting geared up to go to Jersey, and Dan D came by around 10:30 AM. It was declared that our car was bigger, and so we packed up, and I would be behind the wheel on the way to and from Point Pleasant Beach. Got Carolyn (so our party consisted of April, Ryan, Dan D, Carolyn and myself) and drove into the Toll Booth Capital of the United States of America--New Jersey. I mean it. On the Garden State Parkway, there is a toll booth every 20 miles or so. And the road runs the entire length of the state, so about 175 miles. Now, last time I was at Point Pleasant, somehow I remember parking fees being a lot lower. Being a tourist trap, they nail you every which way possible: parking costs $2 per hour. Then they charge you an extra $6.50 to actually get onto the physical beach. I bet they make a killing in the summer. There was a plus, though--the waves were huge, many of them taller than I. And of course, it just isn't a good day if you don't get pounded by walls of water and get abraded and beat up as the waves scour you by dragging you against the sand. So I got dinged up and bled in a few places, and also got the wind knocked out of me a couple of times, but, in all seriousness, I had a great day. It'd been over 2 years since I last went swimming in the ocean--the last time being from when I lived on Cape Cod. After having nature rape me and shoving sand in every crevice in my body, I ate, took many beach pics (3 rolls worth with plenty of ocean, birds, and boobies), and then we traveled the boardwalk before our parking time ran out. We were there around 4 hours, and then we came back home. I showered and got several pounds of sand off my body. Took me two days to get most of the sand out of my hair, even with showering. Long, curly hair + sand = beach erosion. I had dinner with Dan's parents, having my fill of pizza and challah bread, then settled downstairs with Ryan and April, where I had a shock--APRIL WATCHED AN ENTIRE BASEBALL GAME. I'm convinced that there was something in that basement air.
Saturday was Day 1 of the RenFaire weekend, in which very quickly, April and I blew most of our budgets on garb: myself, I complete the mandatory aspect of my costume, purchasing the knee-high leather boots and a better, bigger belt pouch. Everything else is OOO SHINY. For example, there's a cavalier hat that I want. And April thinks I look sexier in it, which is a plus in ANYTHING. Any time I can have a +sex stat is all good in my book. Pics are forthcoming. They're actually IN Wal-Mart now, getting developed and put to CD so that I can share with you rabid folk. There's 11 rolls in development now. The great thing is this: now that this vacation is over, pay day is tomorrow. I can recover my losses and pay for the film development. April got a new basic outfit, going for an archer look, and also purchased knee-high lace-up boots. Again, pics to come soon. While we were walking around, we did run into the NP crew (Wyatt, Shanti, Mary, James) and we hung around for a bit, going in shops, and seeing Mary try on this delicious leather bodice-y thing. James came as a Scotsman, kilt and all, although he was cautious, not wanting to be exposed in the event Mary tried to trip him or something to catch a look at his bits. Wyatt and Shanti were in garb. It was during the final joust that we saw Dan and Carolyn, and we arranged to go to Carolyn's after the Faire to have some dinner. We did, and while at Carolyn's, April, Ryan, and myself just decided to have a case of apparent allergies to I don't know what--the three of us ended up with sneezing, runny noses, headaches, etc. No idea. Neither of us are allergic to cats. But we got to see most of Howl's Moving Castle. And believe me, there's no point in living if I can't be beautiful. And use my special earring sense. And have a dog that sounds like it has emphysema.
Sunday was Faire Day 2, and with our budgets mostly spent, Ryan, April, and I spent the day walking around and catching performances by the Crimson Pirates, Crossbones McCoy, catching the Crown Madrigals, and seeing the Wrong Show and Wet Chemise Contest. Met up with Sara and Shanna for a bit, and got pics. At the costume rental place, there was clearly a drunk guy hitting on Sara and Shanna. While Sara left early, Shanna stayed the day, and ended up changing her costume to something revealing a LOT MORE chest. With dollars. Nestled inside. Comfortably. And the dude at the Wrong Show grabbed it out with his teeth. Why couldn't have that been me? Yes, April was right next to Shanna, but BOOBIES! It's a convenience thing: Shanna's were exposed, April's were not. Still, I have pics. We hope. Again, in development. After the day ended, we got home, Ryan treated us to dinner at Applebee's in Suffern, and then we got home and very quickly went to bed.
Monday was the low mark of the weekend--Ryan hadn't slept well the previous night and felt a bit under the weather, a headache coming along. However, April and I suggested some things to make him better, but he shrugged it off. After getting to the Faire and being there for a while, his overall mood deteriorated, and he got more and more pissy. Again, April and I told him to lie down on some cool grass in shade, have some water, go to the First Aid station and get some pain reliever for his headache, but he was stubborn and refused to do anything. Saw the Knife Throwing Show and met up with more NP crew once again, this time comprising of Wyatt, Shanti, Brie and Ian. They went off to see Dextre Tripp and we continued walking, catching some more music. Ryan's mood continued to sour, despite April and I throwing out advice. He just continued to be male and stubborn, and I was getting pissed, convinced that he began his period. Finally, around 1, we had enough of Ryan ruining our day, and we left on account of Ryan having a stick wedged up his ass. We brought him home and told him to change his pad, and I was pissed. I hadn't said a word leaving the Faire, and not until we'd been driving a ways did I begin talking again. Next time Ryan comes, he brings his own car. Same goes for anyone: if ANYONE comes with us in our car to the Faire, you're gonna be with us the WHOLE DAY. End of story. You better be having a heart attack before I let you ruin my day. So we got home about 5 hours earlier than we thought, and then April decided I had to be a pirate as we had copious amounts of each other. Translation: 4 days of pent-up sex bursting out. Then came bed, and I returned to the drudgery that is data entry. (sad)
However, despite Ryan on a steady drip, the vacation is done and I want some more. RenFaire isn't over yet: we're coming back for closing weekend and then will come King Richard's Faire in Massachusetts, or the CT RenFaire, or both. We shall see. But now, time to loaf for the rest of the night.
Nighty night, all.
