How about a dog shit souffle?
Thursday, 6 December 2007 08:11Can the weekend come faster? Please? I wanna get this holiday party going. Speaking of which, to those who ARE coming, I need to know what time we should expect you, and if you're staying overnight. This is going to be great.
So, got a few comments from my last post, my long rant about how I think organized religion is the dumbest thing on the planet, and you know...it only proves itself time and time again. Take the latest flap about how an Episcopal diocese wants to secede from the Church over gay rights. Or how Christian groups are slamming Nicole Kidman and "The Golden Compass" because the original novel was written by an atheist, also claiming that the book and movie promotes witchcraft.
Who the fuck are these people, and are they really that bored?
However, that's a rant I'm not going to repeat all over again. It's 8 AM, for crying out loud. You wanna read it and comment, go to my last post. On a much better note, I got the part-time photographer position at the Picture Me portrait studio in a nearby Wal-Mart supercenter! Before you ask, the studio is NOT owned and run by Wal-Mart. The studio simply uses space inside it. This means I am not bound by Wal-Mart's rules and procedures, thank god. But this is going to be awesome, I hope. I'll finally get some knowledge on indoor lighting, portrait work. Pay is shit, as I mentioned before, but it's the experience I"m after. Granted, it's on weekends, but I need the experience, something to build up my resume and also when I go back to college, which keeps looking farther and farther away.
Not only does SUNY want to raise tuition AGAIN, but last night, I was looking, and realized once again, that even though I've spent the last 2 and a half years living ON MY OWN, paying my own bills, supporting myself...the federal government does not consider me independent until I'm 24. At my current rate of pay, I will most likely need some sort of financial aid when I do go back to school, but if the government doesn't consider me independent until I'm 24...apparently, they think that a 20, 21, or 22 year old person can't live in their own apartment, pay their own rent and utilities, and actually support themselves. Apparently, they think we all live with our parents until our mid-20s. So I either get a promotion, start saving money, or wait 2 MORE YEARS. I will not go through the nightmare of getting royally fucked for financial aid again, AND I DON'T EVEN LIVE WITH MY PARENTS. They're 230 miles away!
Can we just get rid of our government and start all over again?
And finally, last piece of news from here before I go eat: signups for the contest begin this weekend. Bracket's completed, found all images for all characters (thank you Wikipedia and Google image search), and now I have to finish updating the FAQ, as well as uploading the bracket to the BracketMaker web site.
With that, some oatmeal awaits. Yummy.
