So another week has come and gone, and for the moment, overtime has ended at work. Which is good. Hopefully we don't see another 10 month streak of it for a long, long time. In the meantime, not a whole lot has happened here. Outside of work, I've beaten Final Fantasy 12, which completes something about 8 or so years in the making--to complete all the games in the main series, and so I am now resigned to get a PS3. However, it'll wait until Sony gets it right (if they ever) or it comes down in price. This then leads to the inevitable question that one of you will ask me: how do I rank all the FF games? Well, now that I've played the entire main numbered series, here's how I rank them (and this is my own personal opinion) from best to worst:
1. FF7
2. FF6
3. FF12
4. FF4
5. FF9
6. FF10
7. FF3
8. FF5
9. FF8
10. FF1
11. FF10-2
12. FF2
So I'm now back to playing some of the old PS1 games I've yet to finish, like Xenogears and Wild Arms. Although I think the next series I begin work on is the Dragon Quest (Dragon Warrior) series. In the US, anyway, the only games that have never made it here are DQ5 and 6: 1-4 are on the NES (1-3 were re-released for Game Boy Color), 7 was released for PS1, and 8 is on PS2, which I own. Whatever the case, I have no shortage of games to play.
Last Thursday, went bowling with Erica, that was fun. It was dollar night, so the bowling alley became the cheapest bar in town. Nothing like seeing Union College students get plastered while bowling. She stayed overnight, and was here to Friday evening. Saturday, after my work at the portrait studio, we went to April's parents to celebrate her dad's birthday. He requested we play a poker game using actual money (loose change, though--nickels, dimes, quarters), and so I came with $10 of change, but only played with 7.50. For the night, I lost $1.70, but it was fun. Only time you will ever see me gamble.
Yesterday, had to deal with a crisis at home. There are often times, still, even to this day, where I am constantly reminded of how wonderful it feels to have 4 hours between myself and family. Mom called me yesterday, extremely distraught, upset with my sister Heather. As opposed to giving you all the long, drawn out affair, I can actually simplify it in one sentence: my sister is 17, growing up, doesn't want to be bound by the parents anymore, and is facing resistance from the parents. Something most of us have all been through. She's growing up and the parents don't like it. So I was asked to chat with my sister, and we spent 90 minutes on the phone. What she tells me is nothing new, what she's going through now with the parents at her age is the exact same thing I, my stepbrother, and my stepsister all went through. Only difference is, she's the last one to get it. And with everyone out of the house, she has no one (except friends) to vent to. So I repeated my standing invitation for her to come visit, imparted some advice, and see where it takes her.
Did I mention how glad I am to be here? Now, I love my family. I love them to death, and I would do anything for the family...except live with them. Not anymore. Not unless I had to.
So that's been the week. Coming this week, a couple of paychecks, some Super Scrabble, and possibly more bowling so far. Oh, and work and Battle Royal. And sex. Plenty of sex.
Meantime, time to have some food.
