Hey, a real post!

How about that?! Ah well, you're not missing much. By now, we all know the results of last weekend's Super Bowl, and as such, here was my take on the matter: not being a football fan, I didn't care either way who won, all I wanted was a great game. On a completely aesthetic level, I wanted the Patriots to win, just so the media, and sports talk guys on ESPN Radio could finally shut up about the perfect season...because I knew if the Giants won, they would be talking about this until baseball season starts. And so they are. Regardless, it was a fucking awesome game, exciting, and I was entertained. While I was at April's parents for that game, we all had played a couple hours of poker beforehand. Two weeks ago, I lost money, and this time, I gained it back, plus more--a good night for me on the loose change front.

Also, after what seemed like an epic quest, Ben and I finally found and purchased tickets for a Red Sox game in Fenway Park, going all the way to September to do it. Our original plan was in April, but due to Passover and Ben observing it, then following up with other weekends that were inconvenient for either of us, we finally landed in mid-September. It's the second to last RenFaire weekend, actually. With Yankees tickets due to go on sale soon, we'll be sure to get some of those as well. In the meantime, tickets for the summer season at Tanglewood are in the near future, with 3 performances that I am definitely watching: James Taylor, A Prairie Home Companion, and Film Night (with John Williams conducting the Boston Pops). So a lot of tickets coming up.

In other news, got a small raise at my portrait studio job, a 25 cent raise. And I'm also finally getting a raise at the Lottery, after 1 year without one (damn State and union rules and contracts). On the plus side, the raise that was supposed to happen a year ago and will officially happen on March 5--I get all that retroactive pay, which amounts to at least $500 (plus the accrued overtime at what would be the new overtime rate that I did over the last year). Translation: dollars, finally. And that's not including the tax refund. Which means that this year, not only will I finish paying off MCLA, get my negative scanner and digital camera, but also seriously apply to colleges again. It is my intention to pick up my college career where it left off.

Hopefully I can begin to seriously get my career off the ground, and that's the intention. The negative scanner will help me to do that. In April or May, I am probably gonna say adieu to the portrait studio--spring and summer means I want my weekends back.

For the moment, though, I move on with life. Annie is coming up here in a couple of weeks, April's friend Kristin comes up in March, and I've got video games to catch up on now that Final Fantasy is done.

Games started but still unfinished:
Silent Hill 3
RE: Umbrella Chronicles
Wild Arms
Xenogears
Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain
Dragon Quest 8
Indigo Prophecy
MLB Power Pros
Children of Mana
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Games on the Want List:
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (reserved)
Dragon Warrior 1, 2, and 7
Phantasy Star Collection

In the meantime, life continues to go on. And now, back to Silent Hill I go.

A mixed bag this time around on the Alucard vs. Ike battle. It was almost split down the middle in terms of prediction accuracy, with 17 of you picking Alucard, the slight favorite. Unlike the battles of the last couple of days where they were close in final results but ended up being upsets, this one was a bit more representative this time. Alucard won 16-10. Now, how that result came to be was a bit of an interesting mix...on my LJ, Alucard had a big blowout, 10-3...while on Fantasy World, Ike was leading 7-6. This tells me that not everyone is putting in their 2 votes per battle. Remember, battles go on simultaneously on my LJ and on Fantasy World. Once you place your vote on LJ, go to Fantasy World--the battles are right there on the main page--vote there too! Remember--it's the sum of the combined votes from both places that determines the winner! On a more obvious note, in the battle of the Two Doctors, Dr. Robotnik easily beat out Dr. Wright. No contest there, it was a complete blowout.
