Been a while since a real post happened, as is the case when these long contests come about. It's the last big one, and I am looking forward to getting my life back. In the meantime, though, things have happened. On the work front, I am once again gunning for a promotion, which makes this my 5th attempt since I last took the civil service tests for said promotion. However, I think that I have the best chance yet with this one, as it's a position right in our office. At least when I get interviewed, it likely won't be just a token interview, just some outside office doing these because they HAVE to, even though they know full well who they're going to promote but have to go through the red tape. So, good luck to me with that. Hopefully this comes soon, as we're about to get really busy again...we're coming up to our major peak renewal period for people who play Lotto by mail. Some overtime is definitely foreseeable, and should I get promoted, then I get a new overtime rate of pay. (grin)
Still have the portrait studio job, for I want my camera toys...I'm one paycheck away from the
negative scanner I want. I'll probably keep the job until April or so--as it gets warmer, I am going to want my weekends back. However, I'll definitely stick around for the Easter rush (despite the fact that I'm taking the weekend before and Easter weekend off to play the driver up and down state--it's for a good cause, though) and probably around April, I will probably request a leave of absence, or if I can't, I'll make my exit. Speaking of which, our district manager held a dinner for us at a restaurant nearby--free food! It's very rare that one can get prime rib for free, and it was fun. April got to meet the people I work with, and one of my co-workers has a boyfriend who went to school and graduated in New Paltz a few years ago. Now he makes fork art.
Bought myself a new bowling ball a couple weeks ago, and I've been getting used to it again by going to the dollar nights at the local bowling alley. I made some personal history, though--a week and a half ago, I bowled what are now my 2 best games ever. I bowled a 176 (which beat my old personal best of 171), and then the game immediately after (which would be my last game of the night), I bowled a 201. First time I ever broke 200, and I could not go to bed that night--for while I was physically tired, my brain was going WHOOPEEWHOOPEEWHOOPEE for long after.
Annie is coming up here for the weekend, she'll be leaving in a bit. However, plans changed at the last second--one thing I do know about the portrait studio and the company who runs it, is the fact that it is horribly disorganized. One person in a studio outside Albany had a family emergency this morning, and it has resulted in a massive inconvenience for everyone, as we've had to play staff shuffle--resulting in staff driving all over the capital region. This is what happens when an entire district is understaffed. I was originally supposed to work 10-3 in Clifton Park today and meet Annie back home, but now I work the closing shift. It wasn't all bad, though--I got relocated to the closer Wal-Mart, the one 2 minutes away from me. Annie will meet me there instead, and we'll go home when I leave. I probably won't be online all weekend except to change the battles.
On a gaming front, I now have my hand in several games, in an attempt to find one and latch on to--since beating the Silent Hill games I have, I've been dabbling in a little Devil May Cry, Dragon Quest 8, Dragon Warrior 1, and Phantasy Star 1--I haven't even opened Mario Galaxy yet.
In the meantime, time to put some clothes on and do whatever.
