Feel free to blither now.
Tuesday, 15 July 2008 19:47I beat my 5th video game of the year a couple days ago, a PS1 (yes, ancient to some of you) game called Parasite Eve. Awesome, awesome game. I am going to get the second one. Yep, I am. But not yet. I would like to begin Metal Gear Solid 4, but alas, April isn't letting me. Let me rephrase that. MGS4 is not the type of game I'm willing to play on weeknights. Why? Because I know I am going to get so riveted by the story, so captured (just like the previous MGS games before it) by the game, that I am not going to put it down when I am supposed to head to bed (between 10:30 and 11). I'm simply not. Which leaves the weekends. However, it's been pretty nice out these last few weekends, and as such, April won't let me sit down and play on the nice days. She would like to do things, like go outside, or out of the apartment. Which is well and good, and I have no problems with it...except MGS4 is still in its shrink wrap, on top of Ben's PS3 (which, actually, as more games come out for it that I wish to play like Soul Calibur 4, BioShock, RE5, FF13...is making me think about buying the system from him) staring at me. I WILL get to that game. However, with the next few weekends being busy for me, I may not get to it until after I move.
Yes, and as we move at the end of the month, we've slowly begun the packing process. As our new property manager has allowed us to begin moving in 5 days before the lease is actually set to begin (August 1), I plan on taking full advantage of it. I was hoping, but not expecting to have that permission, which meant we'd have to get all our crap out of here and into the new place ON July 31, then make a mad dash downstate for Opening Weekend of this year's Renaissance Faire. So now that I have that permission, it means a more gradual, and not so rushed timeframe to move in. All help will be appreciated, and April will feed you handsomely. Just ask Carolyn and the Dans, who helped us move into our first apartment in Kingston. Once we move, we don't intend to move again until we are ready to buy our first house.
Speaking of the Faire, I'm curious as to who of you are going. April and I are going for Opening Weekend (August 2-3), Labor Day Weekend (August 30-September 1), and Closing Weekend (September 20-21). Who's going when? Maybe we might begin to plan some of this. Either way, I am looking forward to it, as I do every year.
In recent news, I had another session of D&D a little more than a week ago, and I'm continuing to learn and love it, despite Wyatt's pity for me, since I'm learning D&D 2nd edition. I still say THAC0 sounds like some knock-off of Tabasco. Also, I think I'm pulling out of my bowling slump, which makes me feel better. My average has been taking a hit in these league play games. After last Friday's Rock N'Bowl, I think I may have found my stride again. But we'll see.
Also, last Saturday, April and I went to see WALL-E, which was a fucking fantastic movie. GO SEE IT. Some of my friends told me beforehand that it was the best thing Pixar has done. Tell you what, they may have a point. That, and any movie that pisses off the Republicans always makes me happy.
Michelle, we're gonna have to talk about your wedding and my photography very soon...it's getting close.
I finished reading the 5 books of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy, and so I went to B&N to replenish my stock of books to read. I picked up some more H.P. Lovecraft, some more Garrison Keillor, some C.S. Lewis, and Metal Gear Solid: The Novelization.
Yes, you saw that last one right. My (well, Ben and I) idea for this year's NaNoWriMo has been thrown out of the window. This book is an officially licensed novelization of the first Metal Gear Solid game. I will probably read it next after I finish reading April's novella, Egg of the Damned. I was initially shocked, and grabbed it on impulse. I have to read it. I hope it doesn't disappoint, like what S.D. Perry did to the Resident Evil series. We'll see. I have other ideas for my next game novelization after RE4 is done...like Eternal Darkness, maybe Silent Hill...we'll see.
All righty, time to get off this thing and watch the All-Star Game. Hopefully, the AL will continue its dominance. They better, considering Josh Hamilton's performance at the Home Run Derby last night...28 home runs in the first round?! What a show.
Ok, serious now. Off I go.
