Four years in the making.
Wednesday, 12 November 2008 22:22This is a post directed at anyone who reads this. This is not a rant or me blithering on and on about some sundry topic. This is actually important, and I want your input--especially those who have an eye for art.
It has been four years, and the time has come--I am applying to go back to college. The top choice is Sage College of Albany, which is a very art-oriented school, and they offer photography as a major. From all I've seen, they have a great photography program, and I'll know more once I go to the open house in a week.
Now, here's where you come in. Since I am trying to get into the photography program, one of the things that is required of me in the application process is that I need to present a portfolio to the department. The portfolio has to be between 12-15 prints, and it must have variation. These are the portfolio requirements as written by Sage:
For admission into the Sage Visual Arts A.A.S. or B.F.A. programs students must present a portfolio of original work. Your portfolio should include art and design work you have completed in classes and on your own. Your art and design work will be carefully reviewed by a team of Sage faculty members who will provide you with feedback on the quality of your work and areas in which Sage’s Visual Arts program can help you improve.
Portfolio Requirements:
Please submit 12 – 15 pieces of your best quality work that show your range of abilities and creativity, including drawing from observation and color work. Bring in your sketchbook (if you have one) so the review team can see your own ideas.
So I ask for your opinion on what you think my best work constitutes. Go to my DeviantArt and Mad Squirrel Photos, and give me your honest feedback. NOTE: many of the pics you will see between the two sites are the same, but there are quite a few that are on one site but not the other.
I will ultimately have the final say on what 12-15 I wish to present, but your feedback is important. And should I be accepted to Sage, I'll have y'all to thank.
