I must say, I'm starting to get excited for the Christmas holiday. It's December, and so I embrace the familiarity of the holidays once again--the music, the Salvation Army bell ringers everywhere, the decorating, and all the other stuff that goes with it. Despite the economy being what it is, I think it's gonna be a good Christmas.

To all of you who RSVP'd to my party on or before last Friday, thank you very much. I know some of you can't come, and while we'll miss you, I'm glad you let us know. Some of you I sent late invites for, and to those, I gave a couple extra days. To those who are coming at some point during the weekend, let me know when you plan on getting here so we know when to expect you.

In recent news, signups have begun for Character Battle 9...if you're interested, check out the contest page here. Clicky. Also, my computer has taken the first step in its rebuilding process. I put 2 GB of RAM in the thing, and now it doesn't take 10 minutes to boot up anymore! Woo! Amazing things happen when you increase the RAM by, oh...800%. What does this mean, boys and girls? My computer was running on 256 MB, which by today's standards, is ancient.

Yesterday, I took a civil service test, the Keyboard Specialist 2 test. I mean, yes, that position would not be a promotion for me (Keyboard Specialist 2 is the same pay grade of my current position, Clerk 2), but I took it because it'd allow me more opportunities. If the Lottery goes sour, I'd like to have a pretty good range of places to go. And just like the very first civil service test I took (Keyboard Specialist 1), this hurt my brain. Not because it was hard--far from it--but from the inanity of the questions asked. First 15 questions were "which of these is spelled incorrectly?" And I could understand if the choices were using words that are long, commonly misspelled...but for almost every question, the answer was GLARINGLY OBVIOUS. The next set of questions asked which of these sentences is grammatically correct--and again, not even trying to fool you. The answer would be a sentence that looked like: "Paul, traveled, thirty miles to his destination."

They gave us three and a half hours for this test...and I was out in less than ninety minutes. When I got home, I came home to discover that our futon was gone. April's parents came with the van to get this thing out. It has been donated to the Salvation Army, and on Tuesday, we'll have a comfy new sleeper sofa. I can't wait.

So tomorrow, I mail out my application for admission to Sage College. To be honest, I'm a little nervous. It's been four years since I last went to college, and I'm hoping I don't get the door slammed in my face again. Once they have the app, I will make an appointment with them to schedule my portfolio review. And so, thanks to some of your input, and some of my own, here's the images I have selected. Most of these are set in stone, a few may change at the last second. I'm going to print the pics this week. Remember, this portfolio has to be varied--there are reasons why I didn't select all nature shots (which comprises most of my stock). If you don't see an image here you suggested, don't fret. The feedback was, and still is, very much appreciated.
