Crotchety crotch, continued.
Wednesday, 30 June 2010 21:20Just a warning: I talk about my crotch and its environs here; all in terms of my recovery, nothing sexual (alas). No need to dive off my friends list in droves because I post a graphic depiction of my sex life here.
Still on the mend after last Friday's incision into the abscess in my crotch. The pain has mostly subsided--I can sit and bend over with minimal pain--and the bleeding has stopped.
The antibiotics are helping, and are slowly reducing the size of it. The affected area is still very firm to the touch, though. When I go for my follow-up this Friday, I'm hoping the doctor won't decide to open another slit into it.
Also, given the location of the abscess, it's entirely possible that the abscess may very well be Crohn's-related. People who have Crohn's and are on immunosuppressants have a higher risk for getting them in that area of the body; of which I qualify (having mentioned in the last post that I'm currently on said drugs to treat a flare-up...I get off of those drugs in 3 and a half weeks, thank goodness). Treatment is pretty much the same. Great. Another joy of Crohn's I have to look forward to.
Because I've stopped bleeding, I've decided to go tonight and maybe tomorrow without having a surgical dressing and gauze pad attached to the wound, mostly because, again, most of the pain from the abscess has subsided, but also because wearing that thick surgical pad is becoming extremely uncomfortable, and (now for the clinical part) also the fact that the ripping off of tape off around my balls, ass, and crotch to remove the old dressing every day for the last 6 days have now given me welts and skin irritation. You know that searing pain you feel when someone rips tape off your arm? Do that to your groin every day for 6 days. So I'll let the skin breathe and let that mild irritation clear up.
So that's my current state; on the mend. On a completely unrelated note, Day 3 of my contest is now posted and ready for your vote, so go do it: http://tinyurl.com/cb12battles
Now, to relax.
