Signups are now open for Character Battle 13!
Thursday, 9 June 2011 21:27After a year without a Character Battle contest, it's now time to bring it back--signups for this summer's contest, Character Battle 13: Into the Legend, are now open!
The theme for this contest is a clash of characters from some of gaming's most classic franchises--all of them celebrating milestone anniversaries this year. This is a standard single elimination style, comprised of 64 characters into 4 divisions of 16. The franchises represented are Sonic the Hedgehog, The Legend of Zelda, Dragon Quest, and Castlevania. The object here, as usual, is to gain the most points by correctly predicting winners of each contest battle, in order to win the prize!
Once again, the contest will be held on my site for these contests, The Battling Arena. While you do not have to be a member to vote, you can sign up for it and post comments and other thoughts. I thought about moving the battles to Facebook, but I decided against it--one of the things about this contest is anonymous voting. I thought that actually seeing who voted for who might take a bit of the fun out of it, and also, I don't want to clutter up your Facebook pages with 64 contest battles for 5 weeks.
Everything you need to know about this contest is located at The Battling Arena--for returning players, all the rules are the same, although there's been a few changes to the prizes. New players, I suggest you read the rules. It's not long, and it's not loaded with fluffy legalese like you'd find in an End User License Agreement.
Some changes from CB12:
--instead of 2 divisions of 32 characters, there are now 4 divisions of 16.
--there is no separate bracket for the Loser's Match. Once you've completed your brackets, I'll ask you your choice.
