New York is having menopause.
Monday, 31 October 2011 20:13Seriously. I think we had all of about 3 weeks of fall before winter decided to go all Kanye West on us with a very early snowstorm. Now it's back to fall. While Snowpocalypse #1 of the season didn't do very much here, it did cause a heck of a lot of heavy, wet snow to fall in the mid-Hudson area. I was in New Paltz for the weekend for Wyatt's birthday, round 2, when our birthday/costume party was rendered powerless early Saturday evening, and at this point, still remains out.
It was a fun time, though, despite the lack of power. There was some Nerf warring going in in Wyatt's basement before power failed, and we did get a game of Resident Evil (card game, with Outbreak expansion) in. Interspersed throughout was a lot of being social, some drinking, Jack making an ass out of himself, Ryan being the object of Jack's affections (does everyone have to undergo the hazing ritual that is Jack whenever they meet him for the first time?), and all-around good fun.
The next day, in the fresh daylight, we saw some of the damage the storm brought--some trees broke, one or two of them landing pretty close to the house. One such tree, had it been another 5-10 feet more, could've landed in the bedroom where I, Ryan, Jesse, and Jen were sleeping.
Around mid-afternoon, Ryan and I headed back home; here I am editing the next episode of Downloadable Content, and tending to my wife, who appears to have caught a bug. My turn to tend to the sick. Only fair, after she's been dealing with all of my crap.
And tomorrow, we turn to November. 19 days until I turn 26.
