For those who aren't in the contest, just ignore this. It's kinda long.
For those who are playing, this is Round 2's summary post. Because it's longer than the 1st, I'll LJ-cut it.
Well, that's the end of Round 2, ladies and gentlemen.
And with it, 32 battles of the contest remain. Dang. I just realized that this contest is gonna end April 1st, provided there are no more unexpected delays. Ha. I overshot my original ending date by just over a week...ah, well. Which would make this contest the longest.
That means that you, Sputin, yes, you, come April 1st do not do anything to screw up this contest in terms of turning the place into Al Bhed like in my FF contest. Do whatever you like, Sputin, on April Fools' day, but don't turn the text into some jarbled language. Or some wrath will befall you.
So, now the summary of Round 2. It was a fairly normal round with some highlights: Saya, who had the lead at the end of Round 1, will maintain it going into the Quarterfinals. The lead changed also changed multiple times during the round. TetsuoTrunks accomplished his goal of beating Zack's record for longest consecutive streak in last, and he will be certain to remain there for the remainder of FGCB.
His girlfriend, CroutonPope, who seemed to be stuck in the 3rd to last position since contest began finally began to move up in the ranks, as have E, back into contention. Seraphi Magus seems to have occupied 3rd forever, while Saya and I keep jockeying for position. C&T seems to be climbing back toward the top. We also had our 2nd tiebreaker battle this contest between Xiaoyu and Rayne, of which our own MK was the decider there.
So far, I have not had to utilize the list of tiebreakers much at all, which is great so far. I do expect to be calling upon them more in the later rounds as battles become closer and closer as more of the favored characters do battle.
Less scoring done this round than in the 1st, obviously, as it becomes harder to get points. 7135 out of 17600, or 40.5%. A bit lower than usual. Round 2 seemed to be the round of the underdogs, as there were a number of favorites that went out due to low vote counts or unexpected upsets--15 of the favorites among the field advanced.
