Today's started out good...then reality once again decks me in the face. I had a chat with my stepdad today...one that money matters. As I find out, the money I gave him last week for his taxes went to bills. So now that's $400 gone to bills. Pissed? Yes. However, reality came screaming at me. It was either that or we don't eat. I hate being a major source of income. I'm not ready for it yet. So, as I talked to my stepdad, we talked about the options I could take with regards to continuing college:

1) My stepdad does his taxes, I fill out the FAFSA, apply for student loans, hope that I can afford to pay anything out of pocket.

2) Take out a private loan that covers my expenses for the year. I sort of not want to do that, for that's adding a $14,000 loan to my credit.

3) Defer enrollment to MCLA until the spring, or even possibly next year. I don't want to do that because then I have to start paying back student loans. However, if I have to take time off so I can work, gather momentum, then I will do it.

4) Worst case scenario: not go back to college.

Ehh...it's gonna be a challenge to see how I can get to MCLA. But...I'm feeling a little better. I'll be back to my normal self shortly. Thursday, I'm going to get my stepdad to make an appointment.

I feel a smile returning to my face now...as I beat reality back into submission. (grins)

Nature and woodland always held a special place in my heart--just being surrounded by lush, green pine forests makes me feel quite at home. Always has, and this time, with the company of April, Dan, Jackie, Dan's parents Marilyn and Kim (who always comes through in the clutch with the corniest of all possible jokes)  I felt more at home than I do in my own house. Could it be because I was surrounded by...people? Not screaming, nasty kids and one billowing pile of THC? The festivities and activities of the weekend will remain in my memory for a long time, and with the 1 and a half rolls of film I shot off, the memories will stay. Now, after having survived a total of about 24 hours of bus time total in the last 2 weekends, it's time to spin the tale of the weekend, complete with grog and double solitaire.

Friday--getting 4 and a half hours of sleep didn't sit well with me. I had intended on going to bed around 1 at the very, very latest (after updating my FF contest and chatting with Sarah and the rest of the online posse) but a rather, rather stoned Rob kept me up with his leering grins, his childish giggling, and overall mush that accompanies oneself when their brain becomes the consistency of a half-melted Slurpee. Now, getting up at 6 AM on Friday...oi. Did not like that one bit. I hadn't seen that hellish, ungodly hour of the morning since high school. My god, it was scary. So I woke, and I ended up shedding blood in the name of April, getting myself with the razor. Note to self: do not shave when you are still mostly asleep. Packed the last of my shit up and then got to Falmouth bus station in time for the 7 AM bus to Boston. Promptly falling asleep, made it to Boston where I snarfed on some Dunkin' Donuts until 10 AM, for the bus to Lee, MA. I arrived in Lee close to 2 PM, where I was greeted by April, who had been there for about 3 hours prior to my arrival. Dan's mom and Jackie came, and it was off to Taconic State Park, where I was greeted by the Dan and Kim. So we get there, and we set up the tents, then decide to go swimming. Now, as if on cue, God began to work his sense of humor. Shortly before we get to Ore Pit Pond, we hear thunder. Which means, everyone out of the pond. Since all 4 of us are in dire need of cooling off, April and I want to go to Bash Bish Falls, and while we walk, it begins to pour. And the prospect of the falls being 1 and a half miles away put that idea out of commission. Of course, as soon as we get back to the campsite, it's bright and sunny again. Brilliant. Jump forward to dinner, and our fire attempts fail miserably due to wet wood. However, Jackie came through in the clutch--ready-to-eat tuna and cold chili, accompanied with Pringles. Not the best of eats, but it passed muster. We went into our tents for the night, Dan and Jackie for some bridge and/or double solitare, cribbage, what have you, and myself unexpectedly falling asleep.

Saturday--Diner food! Yes! The joys of snarfing diner food! After a lovely breakfast, we head to Bash Bish Falls, where we all wanted very much to play in the water. Play? Play! Many pictures were had, many of the wonderful waterfall, and maybe I'll post some of them here. If there wasn't a ranger there, and the "No Swimming" signs not present, I think we all would have jumped in there, myself preferably naked, for I'm just like that. However, we had to settle for our feet in the cold water. Refreshing, yes. We got back to the park, and we went swimming in Ore Pit. Much, much fun. For dinner..."seat-of-your-pants" stew. We had stopped at the store, bought hot dogs, and plenty of Coca-Cola, of which I will call from now on, grog. We ended up buying a total of 6 liters (3 bottles) of grog. April had brought some potatoes and an onion, and Dan had beans. With much work and effort thanks to Kim, we got a fire going, and we had some delicious tasting weird stuff--chopped hot dogs, potatoes, beans, and onions...with Doritos, Pringles, and grog. Now those 6 liters of grog we bought earlier in the day? We finished ALL of it between the 4 of us. I had the vast majority, probably taking in 4 liters. Was I hyper? You bet your ass. After dinner, we had the classic camping dessert--s'mores. Homemade stuff. I never heard Jackie squealing so much. She was on Cloud 9 cubed...that's Cloud 729 for those math freaks. So I told Dan that he'd have to match or exceed that s'more when he and Jackie went to bed for the night. I didn't hear any wild orgasmic screaming, so I'm assuming either Dan failed, or we didn't hear it.

Sunday--a little sad seeing the tents coming down, everything being packed. After it was all packed, we headed up to the top of the falls, where we got to see a rather spectacular view of the valley, and more pictures were had. Then, it was off we went, back to Lee to catch the bus. 7 hours later, here I am alone.

Now to sleep...much fun.
