T-minus 10 hours...signing off from East Falmouth, MA.
Saturday, 4 September 2004 01:15There is a young cowboy he lives on the range
His horse and his cattle are his only companions
He works in the saddle and he sleeps in the canyons
Waiting for Summer, his pastures to change
And as the moon rises he sits by his fire
Thinking about women and glasses of beer
And closing his eyes as the dogies retire
He sings out a song which is soft but it's clear
As if maybe someone could hear
Goodnight you moonlight ladies
Rockabye sweet baby James
Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose
Won't you let me go down in my dreams
And rockabye sweet baby James
Now the first of December was covered with snow
And so was the turnpike from Stockbridge to Boston
Lord, the Berkshires seemed dream-like on account of that frosting
With ten miles behind me and ten thousand more to go
There's a song that they sing when they take to the highway
A song that they sing when they take to the sea
A song that they sing of their home in the sky
Maybe you can believe it if it helps you to sleep
But singing works just fine for me
Goodnight, all you moonlight ladies
Rockabye, sweet baby James
Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose
Won't you let me go down in my dreams
Oh, rockabye sweet baby James.
Excellent, excellent song.
Now, it's 1 AM. I should've gone to bed at midnight. Grog wouldn't permit that. I should be in bed now, but I wanted to write this before taking down the laptop. Tomorrow looks to be a busy day, with packing the car, then the 4 hour trip to North Adams. Despite all the drama that has transpired in this nuthouse the last 3 months, I had a good summer. Had an excellent job, made friends here in my new home. Granted, it's a much different world here than Ramapo, NY, but I've adapted well. And don't forget--the major highlights of the summer which made this fun: spending time with April, meeting her family; the camping trip with another excellent friend, one that ranks up there, Dan, with his girlfriend Jackie, with April and I along. Not to mention the first summer contest: the Into the Lifestream/Fantasy World Final Fantasy Character Battle contest. Finally, the summer would be capped with a trip to the center of the USA to see Sarah and her family, a wonderful, fun-filled end to the summer.
To all of you that had me, thank you very much for inviting me along. We must do it all again. For now, however, I look ahead to the first semester at MCLA, another new world...and relegating myself to cafeteria swill once again.
Now, I go to sleep, happy, anxious, and excited. Till next time, everyone...I love you all.
Nighty night.
