A gamer's utopia.
Monday, 6 September 2004 08:56Aside from the 4 hour drive from the Cape all the way to North Adams, I'm finally here, and I'm thrilled. For now, anyways, I'm no longer privy to all the madness, insanity, and general tenseness of 291 Old Barnstable Road. I've been at MC:LA for only 2 days, and this is probably the least I've been stressed probably since...May 17, the day before I left NP. Since I arrived here, I come to realize that EVERY person in this suite is, by definition, a gamer. Already, I feel quite at home. People have already begun to tap into my library of games, and I'm loving it, 99!
But, Max! You'll be in danger every minute!
[/Get Smart]
And one of my suitemates just came in, looked at me, and told me I look so dead. Once I get 3 or so cans of Coke in me, that'll change. But of course I look dead--it's a little after 9. And how am I typing this LJ if my computer isn't online?
My friends: Palm Pilot, Palm Keyboard, and the program PocketLJ, an LJ client specifically for the Palm OS. Program is amazing--you can update an LJ, DeadJournal, BlogSpot, whatever, using this thing. Brilliant!
So I've been enjoying these 2 days so far...I feel like a freshman again, since I'm being dragged in this "First Days" program, akin to NP's "Welcome Week." I've already done it, leave me alone! Luckily, today's agenda gives me a lot of free time, since much of the planned events are for freshmen--transfer students are exempt. Over the last two days, I've hiked to the top of Mount Greylock (3,491 feet): and the view at the top was incredible. From the top, I could see the buildings of Albany, the Catskill mountains, the surrounding Berkshires, and if it was clearer and had my telescope, I could probably see the JFT. Fun, fun hike...tiring, though. On the way back, I fell asleep on the bus. Also in the last two days: much, much DDR (with metal pads and a huge projection screen), much pool playing, gaming, socializing, and of course, the obligatory blah by the campus higher-ups. They keep referring to us as the class of 2008...(snicker) Not meeeee. 2007, baby! Well, with any luck, of course.
I don't know my address as of yet, but I do have phone set up:
(413) 672-5705.
And of course, my cell: 508-367-7672.
So I'm alive, well, and will probably be set up online in the next day or two.
I feel at home...(smiles)
