In the news, yesterday, being pay day, we kinda splurged a little at Wal-Mart; spent 2 and a half hours there after work. I got the last of the RenFaire rolls developed--for the entire summer, I shot about 25 rolls of film at the RenFaire (not counting the 3-4 I shot off at King Richard's Faire). That's close to 600 pics, ladies and gentlemen. I am impressed. Most came out very decently, had a few duds (probably the equivalent of 30 or so pics), and some of them were real gems. It will be those gems that I will frame and/or submit for the RenFaire photo contest. It was a learning experience for me. I learned a lot about film there. The remaining 4 rolls of film will be developed in a couple of weeks.

Also at Wal-Mart, bought a $90 particle board desk. I need it. April wants her buffet table back. Also, the voice of practicality (as she calls herself) told me I couldn't get a new monitor for my new (used) desktop computer until I got a desk. So I did. The fun part will come this weekend, when I have to assemble the thing. I may want an ambulance on call.

Then we bought nearly $130 worth of food, because we were EMPTY. $130 will go a very long way at a Wal-Mart. While I don't like giving them money, sometimes...it's a necessary evil. The amount of food we purchased would've easily gone up over $200 at Price Chopper. We used two advantages: one, yesterday was pay day, so everyone's accounts were filled, the house account got hit with money, and we had already paid off all the month's bills. We even purchased a bathroom scale. And the scale told me what I already knew--I need to lose about 25 pounds. I inherited those after moving from Cape Cod to Kingston, where I was being fed again (rather than just living off 1 meal a day back in that hell-hole). So, I've (and April) begun utilizing the DDR workout mode.

We got home, and I bought 3 books on Amazon--2 are excellent books which deal with the subject of proper diet and nutrition for people who have Crohn's Disease (oooh, me!) and the 3rd book was the RE4 strategy guide. I'll need it when NaNoWriMo begins Nov. 1.

I've been posting my pics on my new deviantART account (http://lloire.deviantart.com), so take a look. I've been taking a look at the Artistic Nude section of DA, and studying them. Many of the pics are beautiful--not just because of the women--but mainly because of how they are composed. Most of them use black and white, which seems to be the better choice, simply because when dealing with a pale body, black and white reflects contrast so much better as opposed to color film. They're gorgeous. I want to begin practicing on that.

Finally, the Broadway Series has begun at Proctor's Theatre in Schenectady, NY. Their season has finally kicked off, beginning with the show Mamma Mia, which is in town for a week. Getting out of the parking lot was hell for a lot of people today, simply because the 2 PM showing ended at 5...when we all leave work. However, I was there and purchased April's birthday present (which is not for another 6 months, but...)

For you RENT freaks, Proctor's Theatre is holding a 3-night engagement of the musical from April 10-12. I purchased tickets for the opening night, April 10th, 8 PM...and managed to get FRONT ROW. Orchestra seating is only $59.75. I can't wait. Also in the near future will be The Producers (for 1 week in December), Elton John's Aida (Thanksgiving Weekend)...check it all out at www.proctors.org

The theater is absolutely gorgeous--they've recently renovated it, and the first show they did after the stage renovations was Phantom. Which we saw. AMAZING. AGAIN.
