Not bad, as far as Saturdays go. Slept in (always a plus, recover my lost sleep during the week) and relaxed for a bit. Had a shower, shaved. April and I went out to Mohawk Commons, a shopping plaza nearby containing a Target, Price Chopper, Lowe's, Cingular, Barnes & Noble, an EB Games, Panera...bunch of stuff. Called up EB beforehand, slightly hoping, albeit unrealistically, that they had any Wii systems left to preorder. I say unrealistic because by the time preorders began, I was broke. Now I got paid, have money, and am able to go to an EB 8 days after preorders began...and there's none to be found.

A little silly, actually. If Nintendo is going to have an adequate supply of systems available at launch (much more than PS3), why were the big stores like EB and GameStop only reserving between 9 and 15 systems for preorder, knowing full well that demand was going to be through the roof? You know that because demand is so high, Nintendo has promised plenty for everyone...so you only hold so few systems knowing that those systems set aside for preorder will run out in about 5 minutes--in some cases, before the store even opens? You have a line at the store of at least 30 people (who don't know that there's only 10 systems for preordering), some of whom have been there since the wee hours of the AM, and the staff don't even tell those people that they can't preorder until they're in the store, money at the ready...ah, well.

April did bring up a valid idea. Since the Wii comes out on my birthday, I had fully intended to wait out at an EB and nab one. However, she brought up the fact that someone (which means any one of you (cue the big, shit-eating grin) lovely people who want to make my 21st birthday really enjoyable, more so than it will be already) could possibly still get it for me on my birthday (or Christmas), and that I should wait until after the holidays to get it. Which may be a very wise move--I've begun to save up money for the Wii and some games/extras as it is, and if I don't receive it as a gift, I'll have a nice wad of money saved up--plenty to get the system, several games, and some extras. If they're sold out after the holidays, I'll just wait until a new round comes in.

Retailers' rant aside, we did go into B&N, I bought a Nintendo Power magazine, and I'm going to subscribe to it. While I like Game Informer, I like its format and how it covers things, I feel as if they don't have much Nintendo coverage. I notice much more of its pages going toward PS2 and Xbox games. I mean, now Wii is getting top billing, but...I do like Nintendo, and have been playing their systems since I was 4. I also purchased a new album recently released by James Taylor--a Christmas album. April used a wicked discount (which netted her 50% off on a $60 item) on Pride and Prejudice. We hopped over to Panera for lunch, went to Target to grab a few things, then back home.

My weekend project is complete--I assembled that desk I bought on payday, taking me the better part of 5 or so hours to do, but it's done. Next purchase will be the monitor for my new (used) desktop computer. April made a delicious ham boiled dinner, and I listened to the World Series while assembling said desk. Now it smells of fake wood and particle board in here.

Tomorrow looks to be a laundry day and a spot of cleaning as I get my new desk ready. And I need to burn all these video game soundtracks I've downloaded...I love uTorrent. As it stands, I've downloaded all of the Final Fantasy original soundtracks (1 to 10, and 12; FF1-4, 7 and 12 I've burned and now is off my computer); Xenosaga 1 and 2 (burned already), Metal Gear Solid 1 and 3 (done as well), Xenogears, Chrono Trigger and RE4. (both also burned and off).

But now, I'm sleepy, and going to bed. But before I go:
