A frying pan-theist!
Friday, 12 September 2008 17:05Shame on me. I forgot to acknowledge the fact that yesterday, my LiveJournal turned 5 years old, so...HAPPY BIRTHDAY, A BIT OF WIT! (blows horn, cue royal fanfare, streamers, Bobo the Clown, etc, etc, etc). I also did not bake a cake for the LJ like I did last year, so I'll have to do that after the weekend. Some of the questions I posed on last year's birthday post I do have answers for, and here they are:
A promotion? Yep, I got promoted to my new position at the Lottery at the end of this past May, after 7 attempts. It was a result of this promotion and April's a few months before that we moved into our new, bigger apartment.
My liberation from data entry? Yep. See above. I got promoted out of the Subscriptions unit and into the Licensing unit, which, as evidenced from the name of the office, deals with everyone in the State who applies to have a Lottery machine in their store, as well as everyone who works in all of the Racinos. While there is data entry involved in my new position, it is not my SOLE duty. My new responsibilities at work are many, and not being confined to the same computer screen for 8 hours is great. Makes the day go quick.
Going to Fenway Park? Funnily enough, I'm going there tomorrow with Ben, and hoping for good times and lack of rain.
Finally making my return to college? Not just yet. However, that will be coming in the near future, and very likely before next September.
An engagement? Yep, I proposed to April on my birthday, November 19, 2007. And if you have been living under a rock this whole time, she did say yes. Facebook even approved my relationship request. Caught her when she least expected it, and many thanks to Erica for assisting me in the gathering of the ring scheme.
This past year has been pretty good to me, overall. 2008 in general has been very good to me...not so depressing as 2007 was. What will next year bring? No idea. All's I know is that soon summer will end, and with it, RenFaire season. Next weekend will see April and I head down to Tuxedo for the final time this year, as the RenFaire will have closing weekend. The next time I go anywhere after that will be Columbus Day weekend, when April, Ryan (I think) and I will head to Cape Cod to visit my family and to go to King Richard's Faire. Maybe I'll see some of my Cape friends there.
Also, in other news, the pics from Michelle and Shawn's wedding are nearing their completion--less than 2 rolls remain to be scanned in my computer, and then I can unveil them all to the happy couple for purchase. My lovely film scanner has been getting its workout, that's for sure...it's paying for itself, and does such a good job scanning in the negatives. The only complaint I have is the time factor, but even then, it's just minor. For these pictures, I have them set to scan at magazine-quality resolution (300 ppi), and so it takes an hour and a half to scan in 1 roll of film (that's providing every picture came out).
Once that is done, I can get started on my next project--Character Battle Contest IX: Silent Hill. The first contest with the new format (32 characters instead of 128) will be taking signups in a couple weeks--I've got my 32 characters, and have begun hunting down pics for them.
And as I won't be here tomorrow, I will do this now: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RACH!
So there you go. And Final Fantasy 4 for the DS continues to be very, very shiny. That is all.
