So long, Cape Cod, and thanks for all the fish.
Sunday, 30 August 2009 23:03There was quite a bit of fish consumption this past week, I must say. Twice or thrice I had fish and chips last week, because I know I'll not have good seafood again until I return to Cape Cod, which will be in October, for Columbus Day weekend, in what has now become traditionally as the last RenFaire we go to for the year--King Richard's Faire. But last night, April and I got home after spending all of last week on vacation. I feel relaxed and refreshed, I'm a little darker, and I've added 300 more pictures to my tally. Some of them I think are good enough to make it to the deviantART, and so once I finish going through them and culling them, you'll have a look-see. The best ones will go up on dA, but I plan on putting most, if not, all the pics I took on Facebook and Photobucket.
When I last left you, I'd briefly covered what transpired during the first three days of vacation. The campground we stayed at, Sweetwater Forest in Brewster, MA, had wi-fi in a few spots, so my short Internet usage was confined to the rec lodge. I'd already mentioned how last Sunday, we visited my parents, and were witness to the sunniest tropical storm the Cape's ever seen. Way to miss horribly, Weather Channel--tell the entire Cape that they're under a tropical storm WARNING, and be wrong by so much. Monday was marked by visiting the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, run by the Massachusetts Audubon Society. After, we hit up two mini-golf places that I went to with Dan H. when we last vacationed there--Poit's and the Gift Barn. April won both, and then it was off to the Lobster Shanty for dinner, and then to Cooks Beach (on the calm, bay side of the Cape) before heading back to camp. The rest will be LJ-cut, otherwise, you're in for a novel.
( Tuesday, 8/25: I get raped and abused by Mother Nature at the National Seashore. )
( Wednesday, 8/26: Whale-watching in Provincetown, history, and gay guys wanting me to see a cabaret. )
( Thursday, 8/27: Plimoth Plantation and a desire to apologize to the Wampanoag tribe. )
( Friday, 8/28: Antiques, awesome mini-golf, and pirates. )
( Saturday, 8/29: The trip home--in monsoon conditions. Weather Channel's losing streak is snapped. )
( Sunday, 8/30: Back to MA for James Taylor & John Williams, including the list of the pieces performed. )
What a nice way to end the vacation...and now I'm back home, showered, cleaned, and ready to begin the semester tomorrow--Drawing at 8:30 AM. Although, I can get used to this paid vacation thing. Paid vacation time is one of the perks of working for the State, and since I so rarely use it, it was nice to just get away from here for a week. Starting tomorrow, it's back to school and work...until this upcoming weekend, Labor Day weekend, which means another round of RenFaire! And oh yeah, I get married in a month. Best be cracking on the whole marriage license thing. Hope you all enjoyed the week, weekend, whatever...look for pics to come up real soon.
