For all the fun loopy side effects of hydrocodone, the one I dislike the most is the lingering feeling of being completely wiped long after the drug's worn off.

However, it kept me from feeling extreme pain at the surgeon's office (whom we've nicknamed Dr. Hamfist because he's a short, fat man with fat sausage fingers) today, which was nice. I always DREAD going to see him, because he leaves me in a very vulnerable position (pants down, on a table that can be raised, lowered, and angled to where my ass is way up in the air at eye level) and starts prying around in there and looks at his handiwork. The last time he did this, 6 weeks ago, the visit left me bleeding all over his table. So you can imagine my dread.

This time, though, he was pleased to see just how far the wound itself has healed up (keep in mind, it's been almost 7 months since the surgery), and the seton that's been correcting a fistula these past 7 months is ready to come out. As a result, I will have to go in for part 2 of this surgery in about 4 weeks, so he can finish what he started. As I'm considerably better, and the inflammation and infection has pretty much disappeared, he doesn't need to a whole lot of additional work--he needs to finish cleaning up the wound, and he will remove this special device that's been helping to correct the flow of shit. And then, I'll no longer have a plastic lanyard (or a See-N-Say cord, however you prefer) hanging out of my ass.

But before this minor surgery in a month, I go for my next colonoscopy in a week. It's been about 5 years since I had one, and with Crohn's, it's best to get them every 5 years or so in order to keep tabs on the disease.

At the very least, I'll be very familiar with the procedure well before I'm 50 and they begin checking my prostrate.

Never get Crohn's, my friends. I know a couple of you that do have it, but for the rest of you, I hope it's something you'll never, ever have to experience.

Body and ass issues aside, I'll be in Vermont tomorrow, per my wife's request. Tomorrow's her birthday, and I'm taking her to Madison Brewing Company for her birthday dinner. Bennington's not a far drive at all, so I think I'll be up for the trip. Also, I have the next Downloadable Content to edit for Monday.

I also got the Wii game, Kirby's Epic Yarn. Be prepared for me to gush and melt over just how cute this game is. I'm certainly looking forward to going back to playing silly, fun games. I've been on a stretch of playing serious-toned games, and I miss the silly stuff. After plowing through Dragon Quests 2 & 9, BioShock 2, Dead Space 2, and just-completed Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, I'd like a carefree game now before getting into another stretch of serious-themed games.

And now, bed.
