Before I post the final 3 battles of Round 1, let me go over some things with you before we go into Round 2. First, after tonight's battles go up, we go back to normal schedule--that is, 2 battles per day for the remainder of the contest unless I indicate otherwise. Second, a points refresher. Those of you who have done these contests with me already know this, so attention isn't required.
For Round 2, it becomes much harder to earn points for correct battle predictions. If you had a decent Round 1, you've set up a good framework for getting points in Round 2, unless your predictions flop. In Round 1, we had 25 points for every correct pick. Now in Round 2, that goes up to 50--if you're fully correct. This means that to get the full points, you need to meet 2 conditions: the correct 2 people in battle, and the correct winner. If you're only half right--which means that you guess ONLY the winner, you will get 25. And if you're wrong, 0. This is how the partial point system works, and will remain in effect for the rest of the contest. For more clarification and visual example, refer to the Colosso FAQ. Scroll down until you get to the heading, The Wonderful, Generous Point System.
Enough rabbling. On to the last 3 battles of the Round.
Battle 14 consists of Rolf, from the game Phantasy Star 2, released on the Sega Genesis in 1988. Damn. Some of you probably weren't even born yet. He will face Lyon from the GBA version of Fire Emblem, released in 2003.
VS.
Battle 15 consists of Flonne, from the PS2 game Disgaea, released in 2003. She will face Nanami from Suikoden 2, released on the PS1 in 1999.
VS.
And finally, the last battle of Round 1. Battle 16 consists of Willy, from the GBA game Sword of Mana, released in 2003. He will face Ruby from Dark Cloud, released in 2002.
VS.
Tomorrow, we begin Round 2, starting with the Onett Division: (1) Crono (Chrono Trigger) vs. (16) Ivan (Golden Sun); (9) Pikachu (Pokemon) vs. (8) Marth (Fire Emblem).
