Day 43 of Colosso:
Of the 128 total battles in this contest, 96 of them are now in the books. Round 2 has ended, and so, we bring to you the Round 2 Summary Post. I'll begin the recap after reviewing tonight's battles.
Tonight seemed to reflect what all of Round 2 seemed to be--a bumpy road for everyone. I don't think I've seen a more difficult Round 2 than this one--so many of you had a wonderful setup going into the 2nd Round, geared up to earn a lot of points. However, those predictions fell one by one, costing some ofyou a lot of points. Mort, who pretty much held 1st for all of Round 1, fell heavily, but not too far, down to 5th place. Joshie took hold of the reins, and while everyone fell down, he managed to stay at the top for now 17 straight days. Here's how the leaderboard looked at the end of Round 1:
Tied for 1st, 1350/1600 points:
Mort (54-10, 84.38% correct, lost the last 1 in a row) (10 days in 1st)
C&T (54-10, 84.38% correct, won the last 5 in a row)
2nd, 1275/1600: Saya (51-13, 79.69% correct, won the last 4 in a row)
3rd, 1250/1600: Zack (50-14, 78.13% correct, won the last 4 in a row)
4th, 1225/1600: Zergplex (49-15, 76.56% correct, won the last 1 in a row)
5th, 1200/1600: Magus (48-16, 75% correct, won the last 10 in a row)
6th, 1125/1600: Kinie (45-19, 70.31% correct, won the last 1 in a row)
7th, 1100/1600: Sputin (44-20, 68.75% correct, lost the last 1 in a row)
8th, 1075/1600: Lord of Chocobos (43-21, 67.19% correct, won the last 1 in a row)
9th, 1050/1600: Aeris115 (42-22, 65.63% correct, won the last 4 in a row)
10th, 1025/1600: Brookster (41-23, 64.06% correct, won the last 3 in a row)
11th, 925/1600: Scott (37-27, 57.81% correct, won the last 1 in a row)
12th, 900/1600: Annie (36-28, 56.25% correct, won the last 1 in a row)
13th, 800/1600: WallnutBoy (32-32, 50% correct, lost the last 1 in a row)
14th, 250/1600: Cooper (10-54, 15.63% correct, lost the last 17 in a row) (27 days in last)
Now, it's considerably different, as you'll see in a moment.
Tonight, the final battle of the 2nd Round fell to a tie once again. We had 2 tiebreaker battles in the 1st Round, we had 2 of them here in the Round, oddly enough, both in the Alexandria Division. Once again, MK was the tiebreaker for that battle, and she cast the deciding vote for Nanami.
Some of you ended strong--Zack, Magus, and Aeris115 took the full 100 points to close out the Round; C&T, Zergplex and Annie got 50s, Saya and Mort got 25s, and everyone else fell with 0s. Hopefully the predictions that you all have still left going into the Quarterfinals will be fruitful, as the points double. Joshie could very well get knocked off his high horse yet.
As is the case with all of these contests, we always have a lull in Round 2. Excitement and anticipation means a very high vote turnout in Round 1, then it drops very low in the 2nd Round, even going into the Quarterfinals, then begins to pick up again as we move into the Semifinals, then finally strong again as we move into the Division Finals, and subsequently, the Tournament Final. Yes, I know you all have school, but keep voting--it's your points, and only to 1 of you in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd will I purchase the prizes for.
The results tonight:
Drachma 9
Lyon 5
Nanami 7 (won by tiebreaker)
Ruby 6
Now,I'm gonna post the leaderboard, but I will give to you the stats again--next to everyone, you shall see your total Win-Loss record, % correct, and how many battles you have won/lost in a row up to tonight. The Win-Loss record is a showing of how many correct and incorrect predictions you have. You may notice that someone has more points than you, but they have fewer winning predictions--this is because they may have had more FULL correct predictions (they got 50 points for a battle, whereas you may have only gotten 25, etc).
1st, 2300/3200: C&T (75-21, 78.13% correct, lost the last 1 in a row) (17 days in 1st)
2nd, 2150/3200: Zack (72-24, 75% correct, won the last 2 in a row)
3rd, 2125/3200: Magus (71-25, 73.96% correct, won the last 2 in a row)
4th, 2100/3200: Saya (72-24, 75% correct, lost the last 2 in a row)
5th, 2000/3200: Mort (70-26, 72.92% correct, won the last 1 in a row)
6th, 1950/3200: Kinie (64-32, 66.66% correct, lost the last 2 in a row)
7th, 1925/2300: Zergplex (65-31, 67.71% correct, lost the last 1 in a row)
8th, 1725/3200: Sputin (61-35, 63.54% correct, won the last 1 in a row)
9th, 1700/3200: Aeris115 (58-38, 60.42% correct, won the last 2 in a row)
10th, 1600/3200: Lord of Chocobos (56-40, 58.33% correct, lost the last 5 in a row)
11th, 1375/3200: Scott (48-48, 50% correct, lost the last 3 in a row)
Tied for 12th, 1325/3200:
--Brookster (49-47, 51.04% correct, lost the last 7 in a row)
--Annie (45-51, 46.88% correct, lost the last 1 in a row)
13th, 1250/3200: WallnutBoy (45-51, 46.88% correct, lost the last 5 in a row)
14th, 250/3200: Cooper (10-86, 10.42% correct, lost the last 47 in a row)
*Note about Cooper: he can no longer gain any more points for the rest of the contest. His final score is 250 points, and his final record will be: 10-116, 7.81% correct, lost the last 81 in a row.
So, there's your leaderboard. Now, let's check the records.
Longest Win Streak (# of consecutive days in 1st):
THIS contest: C&T, 17 days.
OVERALL: TetsuoTrunks, 46 days, VGV. His record is safe.
Most Consecutive Battles Won:
THIS contest: C&T, 18.
OVERALL: Magus, noxiousCaitSith, C&T: 18.
Most Consecutive Battles Lost:
THIS contest: Cooper, 81 (when the contest ends)
OVERALL: Cooper, 81, Colosso (when the contest ends)
Finally, time to check what predicted champions have been eliminated, of the 15 entries:
BlackRose, beaten by Fei, Miltia Round 2.
Reid, beaten by Alys Brangwin, Alexandria Round 2.
Squirtle, beaten by Felicia, Alexandria Round 1.
Mallow, beaten by KOS-MOS, Miltia Round 1.
So, 11 of us still have our predicted champions in play. This is a good thing. That number will surely drop during the 16 battles of Quarterfinals. Oh, and finally:
6 of us picked Drachma to win, or 40%
5 of us picked Nanami to win, or 33.33%
Tomorrow, the second half of the Onett Quarterfinals: (3) Riku (Kingdom Hearts) vs. (6) Jin Uzuki (Xenosaga); (10) Harle (Chrono Cross) vs. (2) Magus (Chrono Trigger).
That's it for this summary post--good luck in the Quarterfinals, everyone. Remember to vote!
