My, oh, my. I said it would come down to the wire, and it did.
But now, this contest is FINALLY over. Some of you may be breathing a sigh of relief. I know my girlfriend is. My poor computer is. My PS2 and GC and the neglected games are waiting for me with open arms. Especially Xenosaga 3. KOS-MOS definitely is waiting for me.
We had a lot of twists in this contest. Before I announce the winners (although many of you will just scroll right down), let me just say this:
Thank you. To everyone. To everyone who participated, everyone who voted, everyone who served as my tiebreakers for the 8 battles that needed it...you make this fun. And worth my time (and yours) to do these. I always try to make the next one bigger and better, based on your feedback, and I hope I didn't disappoint here. But before I drivel on any further, let's close this thing.
Going into the Colosso Final, it was quickly coming down to 2 people. While at this point only 1 of them still had their predicted champion in play, the series of circumstances for each player to potentially win the whole thing was a maze of twisted stats and numbers that made my head hurt.
One had the easiest of all--simply have his Loser's Match prediction win,and his lead would be enough so that even if someone did guess the Champion correctly, he'd win--by 50 points.
The other had it the hardest: not only would Magus (the forum member) have to LOSE all 4 battles, but his predicted winner HAD to win its opening battle AND the Championship Battle.
With that, I present to you the Champion of Colosso:
Jessica wins Colosso! She beat Ayla quite emphatically in the Final, 17-7! Congratulations! It seems that the tits made all the difference.
But now, the moment you all have been waiting for--who will get the prizes from me.
In 3rd place, finishing with 4225 out of a possible 13,800 points, our very own: C&T!!!!!! Congratulations!!!! And on your birthday, no less!
In 2nd place, finishing with 4400 out of 13,800 points, our Colosso runner up and winner of the $25 prize choice: MAGUS!!!! It was a battle to the end, and you still win a prize from me.
Finally, our Champion, who hovered in the top 6 or 7 for most of the contest. He was the one who still had his predicted champion in play after everyone else's got knocked out. And everything went right for him in the Tournament Final. The 1250 points he gained from Jessica's win gave him the win over Magus by a slim 350 points--finishing with 4800 points and the win: KINIE!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!
Final Standings:
Champion, 4800/13800: Kinie (78-50)
2nd, 4450/13800: Magus (87-41)
3rd, 4225/13800: C&T (91-37)
4th, 3825/13800: Saya (85-43)
5th, 3675/13800: Zergplex (78-50)
6th, 2900/13800: Zack (80-48)
7th, 2825/13800: Sputin (69-59)
8th, 2600/13800: Mort (76-52)
9th, 2400/13800: Aeris115 (65-63)
10th, 2175/13800: Lord of Chocobos (63-65)
11th, 1750/13800: Brookster (55-73)
12th, 1650/13800: WallnutBoy (49-79)
13th, 1575/13800: Annie (50-78)
14th, 1525/13800: Scott (50-78)
15th, 250/13800: Cooper (10-118)
Again, congrats to everyone who played. And by the way--I finished with 3925 points, which would've given me 4th place. Had Crono stuck around, I would've won.
Everyone had the possibility to earn the full 13,800. The total points earned for the contest was 40,600. Overall, the % correct of all battles was 51.21%. I like.
If anyone would like to see or own a copy of their own contest bracket (written and highlighted all over in it by ME!!!), give me your address. If anyone would like to have a copy of the official scoring grid I used for this contest, you will need to have Microsoft Excel.
Kinie, I have spoken to you already, you have chosen the $50 GameStop gift card so you can get FF12 with.
Joshie,I also have spoken to you already, you've chosen to get something out of Hot Topic, and I'll have it shipped to you all the way yonder.
Magus, as the 2nd place finisher, you have a choice of one of the following:
1--$25 gift card to either: EB Games, GameStop, Hot Topic, or Best Buy.
2--$25 via check, money order, PayPal, or concealed cash.
Seeing as how you live very close to me, I don't think any of these choices will pose a problem. Let me know your choice soon.
Everyone: thank you very much for playing in this contest. Whether you simply voted, broke a tie, or entered for the prizes, it's always nice to know that you guys have just as much fun playing as I do hosting these. Special thank you to Joshie, who allows me to run these things on his forum. Thanks to the people who update those headers on a nearly-daily basis.
Now I turn the floor over to you. Give me your feedback. Tell me what you liked, didn't like, the seeded bracket, what you want to see for the next contest, maybe you guys have different ideas for prizes. Anything. I hope to use your feedback to make the next contest better. The theme for the next contest will be decided by YOU. I have several ideas, and a few of you have even given me suggestions already. Look for those ideas in the next week. I hope to begin signups for that in early December, before everyone goes home for the winter holidays.
I already know of one new thing to be implemented for the next contest: the new Gil system that Joshie is going to use. All the points you earn in the next contest will convert to Gil for your use. Even if you place last, those points will be your Gil.
Again, thank you very much for playing. You make these fun. I look forward to your playing again.
Colosso over.

FYI: the new Gil system affects only those who are members of Fantasy World Forum. To join (for free), go here: http://tiduskingdom.suddenlaunch.com
