Recently home from Cape Cod, it was a fun weekend. Didn't want to leave--neither did April. Turns out it's just under 4 hours to get there from here, provided you run into no traffic.

Friday night, around 7:30 or so we arrived, much to the delight of everyone. Had some food, and my stepsister Jen arrived with her boyfriend and her 2nd child, James jr. Healthy baby this time around. Cute when he's quiet. My dad had called me while I was there, and I got to see him through video-relay. It's a video-phone, similar to the concept of using a webcam to talk to someone on say, Yahoo or MSN Messenger, but much quicker and better. There's no choppy frame rate, everything is very smooth. Saw Rob and his girl Tanya briefly before they went downstairs to watch a movie and have sex. Also met Bob's new boarder, Toshi. Toshi is native Japanese, but a very nice man, and funny. As the nice night began to wind down, we watched some Doctor Who before going to bed.

Saturday greeted us with our lumbering oaf of a Golden Retriever at nearly 8 AM. Mariah's starting to show signs of age as the fur on her head is beginning to turn from golden to white--she's 9 years old. Still very much energetic. We had a nice breakfast courtesy of Bob, and then we went off to King Richard's Faire. Heather and I were dressed in full garb. It was a fun place to be, but I noticed several major differences between the NY RenFaire and King Richard's. While the setting and the like remain the same, some major differences:

--King Richard's Faire is much smaller. Provided you don't stop to shop, you could easily cover the whole grounds in about 10 minutes. It's small.
--I like the King Richard's Faire setting better. While the NYRF is big and there's much ground to cover and much more to do and see, the NYRF is a big open space. King Richard's is actually very much wooded. The shops and walkways are built around the trees, leading to a much more secluded enviroment.
--King Richard's is MUCH more family-oriented; nowhere NEAR as naughty and bawdy as the RenFaire. Actors aren't throwing out a lot of sexual jokes, double entendres, innuendo...and NO PICKLE SELLERS!

Still, had a great time. I made a horrible mistake, though. Brought my camera--but no film. I did something I don't do. I don't usually leave my unexposed rolls out--they stay in my bag. I did the reverse--all my exposed rolls from the NY RenFaire were still in my bag, the 4 unexposed rolls were sitting at home. I realized this when I was at King Richard's, so I had to pay through the nose for film. 3 rolls of film cost me $13. Some of the stores we saw at the NYRF were also here at KR. Also, the ORIGINAL Mud Show that we had seen at the NYRF for years (which is now no longer there) was being done here by the same Sturdy Beggars--I could hear the screaming of "Trojans! Trojans! We will never break! Unh!" Memories. Saw a musical performance with the principal cast which was hysterical. We also saw the Gypsy Dancers doing their thing--and they dragged my mom up as a volunteer for part of the show. She had to put some money down one of the male dancers' pants. And I have it on film. MOO HA HA. I've got 4 NEW rolls to develop.

Returned home, played some video games with Heather, then went downstairs to chat with Rob and Tanya. I saw a bit of the new Pink Panther movie, but got tired and went back up to cuddle with April and go to sleep. Today, Grandma visited, and we left around 2:30, getting home near 7:30 due to traffic. Ah, well.

A fun weekend. Nice to see my family again. Didn't see any of my Cape friends, though. I'll be back up in a month for Thanksgiving weekend, with any luck.

We received a package when we arrived home--Crossbones McCoy shipped the game we ordered: Apples to Apples, and there it was, sitting outside. No one yoinked it.

So, first time I've been online since Friday morning--seems that much drama has occurred on the FW front over the weekend. Glad I missed that, and it looks like things are settling.

Oh, and on Friday, I opened a deviantART account: http://lloire.deviantart.com I hope to add some stuff starting tonight.

Broke until Wednesday, and I just pray that any EB or GameStop have Wii systems left for preorder. I am NOT expecting any left, but I can hope. But now, I shower.
