VGH: Halftime Report.

So, you've made it this far. 64 of the 128 battles that comprise VGH are now in the books. The rest of the contest is gonna feel like it's moving very quickly, and before you know it, it's gonna all end, and we'll have our winners. So, let's look back at the first round of the 6th character battle contest.
We had an entry pool of 21 people, the second highest turnout ever. If I entered, we'd have a tie. Regardless, the opening division, Nibelhelm, saw a very high vote turnout--the highest I'd see ever in an opening round. In the first and last battle of the Nibelhelm Division, we saw a 100% correct prediction rate. not bad at all. We also saw our first upset of the contest as Isaac from Golden Sun beat the white wolf, Ameterasu from Okami, with 12 people getting shafted for that. As we moved into the Time Division, the 100% correct prediction rate happened three times, and as it progressed, we saw Fragments, in her first contest, riding first for most of the way up to this point. Also, Halflingspy, Saya, and herself were threatening to do what only 1 person had done before--get all 16 battles correct in a division's first round. Saya and Fragments did it, joining C&T in the All-16 Club, and the two of them also tied for what was then the record for most consecutive battles won, at 18. Saya broke it with 19 as we moved into the Shadow Moses division, and then 2 days later, TetsuoTrunks would tie that 19 mark, but not break it.
The second half of the round would see the tumbling and falling of Fragments, who had spent most of the round at this point in 1st. Alas, Shadow Moses and Mutant would not treat her well at all. Saya managed to weather it, continuing to hold 1st. Eyes tied it for a few days, then dropped. We also saw our only tiebreaker of the contest here in the Shadow Moses division, along with another upset. In this second half of the first round, we would also see TetsuoTrunks begin to claw slowly up the leaderboard after starting it near the bottom. Saya held on for 20 straight days in 1st before getting knocked off by C&T--2 days before the round's end. 2 more upsets were in the Mutant Division, and also during it, the vote turnout has begun to lessen. Round 2 is where we see a lull in voting, which means a number of upsets.
That pretty much sums up the round. Round 2 begins Monday night, everyone--and with it, the stakes are raised. Now we begin our partial point system. For you veterans, you're already familiar with it. For the newbs, it works like this:
If you have the correct battle pairing AND your predicted winner wins his/her battle, you get 50 points.
If you predict just the winner, it's 25 points.
