Buffalo wings.
Mars rovers.
Bullfinches.
Winkies.
Peepers.
Khalimari.

Those are just some of the hysterical names given to the random enemies you encounter on the Dragon Quest 8 world, with Khalimari being a boss (which, of course, looked like a giant squid).

So another week has ended, and I'm feeling rather good--the Red Sox are up 2-0 in the World Series, I've got a bit of pocket cash, and all is well. Getting geared up for NaNoWriMo once again, and this time, I'm going to exploit a legal loophole in the rules. I know the rules say that it has to be a 50,000 word novel, and that writing can't begin until November 1st. It must start from scratch. However, there's nothing in the rules saying that you can't write multiple novels utilizing the same plot. For example, last year, I novelized the first half of Resident Evil 4. That first half I have called as "book 1." The second half will be "book 2." And that second half is what I plan to do this November. To gear up for the second half of this game novelization, I've begun getting back into the mindset of RE4--going through the game again for the first time since last November, making sure I remember what's coming up, looking through my resources and getting myself back into the heads of Leon, Luis, Ada, and the rest of the RE4 crew. It is my intention to get this done this November, because next year I hope to begin (and finish) a novelization of Metal Gear Solid. There are no prizes for NaNo, anyway--I just want to get the rest of the game out of my head.

If you want to read what I have done so far, click here. And also review. You know you want to.

Also to get myself back into the mindset, I've created a few RE4 icons--like the one you see here of Ada, the RE character that renders me a pathetic, slobbery gamer every time she comes on screen. I just know I'm gonna have to break down and write a lemon with her and Leon--it seems like the only true Resident Evil pairing that could very feasibly work. Claire and Steve could also work, but Leon and Ada have not only feelings for each other (as clearly evident in RE2), they also have much more plot and game time between them...they're the most developed duo of the series. Who knows? I may write an alternate ending to the RE4 novelization.

So, the weekend is here and it'll be a do-nothing weekend...haven't had one of those in a long time. Either we've had people over or we've gone out of town. This'll be a nice weekend to loaf and catch up on some video games...and maybe seeing the Red Sox win the World Series this weekend. While I do love the baseball postseason, it's made this month a very sleep-deprived month for me--damn network executives who start baseball games between 8 and 8:30, knowing full well that the games will take AT LEAST 3 and a half hours. But me, like an idiot watches them. Why? Because I love the game. And the playoffs. And the Red Sox. Funny, though--since the Yankees got eliminated, nearly every Yankee fan I know is now a Rockies fan. This mathematical graphic explains it well:

In other news, I'm a partial uncle once again--my stepbrother Rob has now become a dad. His accident son was born a week ago--a healthy, bouncing baby boy that him and Tanya have named Dakota. This means I'll have to get him a Baby Trogdor or Poopsmith onesie for Christmas. As expected, Tanya has posted up a tremendous amount of pictures, and he's cute, as most babies are. I'll get to meet him in less than a month, when I go to the Cape for Thanksgiving.

On that note, I head to bed. Nighty night, all.
