When I move my bowels, I like to price kayaks.

So, the holiday party held in my apartment was awesome all up and down the line. Two of our guests had to bow out at the last second because one of them came down with a last-second cold. Nothing anyone could do, really. Regardless, pics will be posted on Facebook soon--it was great. Gaming, food, and presents, all great. However, the week so far has had a bit more craziness than usual. Last Friday, at work, the head of the drawings unit, Brad, wanted to see me after work. I did, and he's essentially offering me a part time job working in the drawings unit. Long story short, it's a considerably higher rate of pay (about $5 more an hour), but it's part time. With the amount of hours he'd give me, it would not be enough--in fact, I'd be losing money overall. So the idea was hatched that to supplant my income, I could also continue working part time doing what I'm doing now. So far, everyone involved likes the idea--but now the major hurdle to clear is the matter of, does the State like it? This is an odd request, and because of how regimented the State is, there is much red tape in place to make it as difficult as possible. Apparently, requesting to work two part-time jobs with the State is grounds for a headache. Now comes the part of finessing and navigating the red tape to see if this can even be done. Regardless, the State moves at a glacial pace, and I'm doing my best to expedite things--poking the key people involved to essentially get their asses moving instead of following the normal State routine and sit on this for a century before anyone gets back to me.
At the moment, I don't have my hopes up. After all, it is the State, and I've been fucked over many times by red tape and useless minutia before--Wal-Mart prides itself on it. In the meantime, I start my part-time photographer job this weekend...if somehow I can get the situation I hope for with the State, then I'll ditch the photography job. The drawings unit requires a flexible schedule, open availability, which also includes weekends.
In other news, not even a week has passed and already, 12 people have entered my contest! We keep this up, I'll definitely blow my goal of 30 entrants out of the water! So don't delay--enter the contest today! Take a shot at 2 free video games or $100 cash! Signups end midnight ET, January 5.
And now, breakfast.
