Well, I'm Brian, son of Alan. Nice to meet you. It's been a couple of weeks, dear LJ, that I've gone about writing a real post. It's been busy, what with me going on vacation and all. And I'm still busy. With the last bits of summer in view, I still have quite a few weekends coming up that are booked before I can ease into Fall and the holiday season. This Saturday, I take a civil service test, another promotion exam. The weekend after, I'll be in Boston. Then after that, it's to the RenFaire for the 7th and 8th times this year as April and I head down to Tuxedo some more to partake of closing weekend. That leads us to the final weekend of September, which I have free, as well as the first weekend of October before wrapping up our Faire season at King Richard's Faire during Columbus Day weekend. And even then, April and I are considering, thinking about taking a trip to the Connecticut Renaissance Faire.

My week-long vacation a couple of weeks ago was quite lovely. I took a total of 625 pictures during the week, of which about 400 consisted of Michelle and Shawn's wedding. Just a status update: I'm still scanning the negatives into my computer. Of the 12 rolls, 7 are completed. And I continue tonight. You'll be seeing them soon, another week, and I'll be done. The 4 days at Cape Cod were awesome, I took some great sunset pics at the beach which will grace Mad Squirrel and DeviantArt soon. The romp to Old Sturbridge Village was great, and the 3+ days in the Berkshires were also loads of fun--the only negative there was the fact that April and I fell victim to The Curse of North Adams. Let me explain.

I am not a superstitious person. In fact, I think they're bunk. However, if this is coincidence, then I'm a victim of it. Four times now, I've had a car break down. And on all four of those occasions, April or I (or both) was on our way back from North Adams. Three times it happened in the old car, the maroon Dodge Spirit--twice it was the fault of a wet distributor cap, and the third was when the radiator blew up. So I thought I was safe in a new vehicle, the Toyota Avalon, the first trip to North Adams in the Avalon. So, on our way back to our campsite in Egremont (near Great Barrington), we were returning from a day in North Adams...and the rear right tire blew out. We waited for AAA to get a guy to replace our tire, but after an hour or so, no one showed up, and some passing motorist asked if we needed help. We kindly refused, as AAA was on its way (so we thought). However, someone called for a State Trooper to come, and so when the officer asked what I was doing there, broken down on the side of Route 8, I explained and he called for a tow. 20 minutes, and the guy came, replaced our dead tire with a spare and on we went. That may be the last time I head to North Adams...I think the place has some sort of hate for me. Other than that, vacation was good. Last weekend we went to the RenFaire for Labor Day weekend. We stayed with Dan H.'s parents, and got to see Dan before he headed to Paul Smith's, a college in Bumblefuck, NY.

Last Saturday saw what may have been all of New Paltz (headed by Wyatt, who was surrounded in girls) desending on the Shire. Many good times were had, and Sunday was just April and I, as well as Monday. Sara C. and Shanna were there Monday, but as the place was jam-packed, I did not see them in the sea of 10,000+ patrons. I did, however, see the play that the RenFaire put on (they put on a major play every year, usually Shakespeare, but sometimes Greek), which was Lysistrata. FUCKING HYSTERICAL, and even more so as the play was directed and adapted by Lionel Ruland (or, more affectionately known to Rennies as Crossbones McCoy). And to those who know the plot of the play, why can't we try that here to end the silly wars in the Middle East and Afghanistan? I think it'd work. And if you don't know the plot, go search Lysistrata on Wikipedia.

And here I am. This week, began the Winter League at the bowling alley (despite the fact that summer hasn't ended yet)--it's a 32-week league, it'll take us to May. And so I began on the right foot, bowling a 133 average for the night, 2 above my normal 131.

Oh, and I caved in, finally--I bought FF4 for the DS. OH GOD SO SHINY.

And listening to the radio series of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is going to make me blither. Let's end this post before I blither.
