So I notice that LJ is gonna be down for a while today. I like how people are planning their day around it, which also amuses me. Me? I'll be at work. Doing the work thing. Listening to more corporate bullshit. See, one of the major DISadvantages of working for the State is the fact that being so close to Albany, I get to hear all the petty political crap. Currently, the State is going broke, and I won't be surprised if New York files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. So the Governor wants to take away every State employee's pay raise, and take a week out of everyone's pay. Not to mention all the other things you may or may not have heard of, like raising SUNY tuition some more--to the point where it's going to cost the same going to a private school. I never understand when governments need to tighten their belts, education is always the first to go. Who needs bright people, anyway?
But I digest. I am, actually. Ben & Jerry's cookie dough. NOM.
So my pics are going to be featured in a photo exhibit in the library of Albany Molecular Research. They'll be up for a month, and while participation is voluntary (i.e., I'm not going to get paid for said exhibit, which means the cost of prints and framing said pictures--18 of them--is going to cost me some money), I want the exposure. They'll probably be ready to go for January. In other photo news, thanks to the TWO people who provided me with feedback on what pics to put in my portfolio--the portfolio that hopefully, will admit me to the Photography program at Sage College of Albany. If anyone's still willing to provide me with some feedback on what pics to submit, check out my DeviantArt and Mad Squirrel Photos.
Other random stuff: I'm halfway through scanning the pics I took for this year's Stockade-Athon, which is the annual 15K race in Schenectady. Results have been mixed--perhaps I should not have entirely shot in 800. Still, I'm going to be reimbursed for film and developing costs, so that's a plus. It'll be hurled onto my credit card.
April showed me a hilarious website that caused me to hit the floor laughing: www.engrishfunny.com
Holy hell, I'm gonna be 23 tomorrow.
And since this meme is popping up on several friends' lists, why the fuck not? Leave me a comment and I will reply with why I like you. If I don't know you, I'll either make something up or tell you why I like your LiveJournal. You must pay for the privilege by posting a message like this one on your LiveJournal.
Now to continue waking up. Oi. This whole thing of waking up before dawn and leaving work after sunset is...slightly annoying, to say the least.
