Since weekends are at a premium for me until near mid-October (read: I'm going to be out of town nearly every weekend between now and Columbus Day), and I'm almost out of episodes in the queue, the next 3 episodes of Downloadable Content will be recorded over the span of Monday, September 12 to Wednesday, September 14. I'll be recording 1 episode per night, starting at 7 PM ET. These are the subjects I wish to discuss with whoever wants to record--keep in mind, this isn't necessarily the order in which they will be recorded.
1) The Evolution of Game Music: with all these franchises celebrating milestone anniversaries now and in the next few years, I've been seeing more buzz on the Internet involving video game music concerts. Heck, Nintendo is going to be holding a concert comprised of all Zelda music in celebration of it's 25th anniversary. How does music contribute to a game? Does it provide lasting appeal, or is it a nuisance? We'll discuss how music has evolved from MIDI days to full orchestral scores.
2) The 20th Anniversary of the US launch of the Super Nintendo: considered by many in my generation to be the "golden era" of video games, it can certainly be said that many of the games we know and love had their roots here. It is here where, I feel, video games really began to become a serious medium, and not just toys for kids. And of course, I'd be remiss if we didn't discuss the Genesis/SNES war. We'll discuss the awesome Super Nintendo and reminisce our great memories of it.
3) 2011 Holiday Lineup: it's nearly fall, and already game magazines and Internet sites are beginning to really ramp up their talk of this year's holiday lineup. What games look to get good sales? Is there going to be a must-have game? Without a major console release this year, it's going to be up to some really solid games that carry the major consoles through the holidays. We'll chat about this year's lineup and give you our thoughts.
If you feel like being on any of these episodes, let me know. Since they're going to be recorded over the span of 3 weeknights, let me know when you're available. Any questions, ask away!
